Now , now Onionman calm down a little! !<laugh> Nothing wrong with being German or indeed obese, anyway, how did your 'sense of humour bypass operation' go by the way? <laugh>

Remember this SB?....Written by your old 606 alias BadBlueFish......

He's still with us, but now he's our Captain and is leading us to our best ever season in the PL, also hotly tipped to be in the Team of the Season...<ok>

I have visited all six, only five of them were any good and I will leave you to guess which one was certainly not.

Nope, apart from the lack of sand it isn't all that bad. Try again. Second thoughts, please don't bother.

Well, I have. And that very short list (minus Fratton Park) is about it for the good bits (I would add Albert Road though, some good pubs).

I'm told that the Mary Rose museum is something not to be missed. Also, I haven't been on HMS Victory since the Beatles became famous. Then there's HMS Warrior. HMS Alliance in Gosport. Haven't been to Portsmouth since I sailed in through the harbour entrance about 2.5 years ago. Got to be remedied this summer.

I quite like Southsea. OK, it's obviously not up there with your isolated western UK beaches in Cornwall or Pembrokeshire or the Outer Hebrides, but it has a period charm about it that is classier than Great Yarmouth, Margate, etc... The beach also looks south - no bad thing, and the views to the Isle of Wight and the Palmerston forts are interesting, and lovely when the summer sun is on them. Always makes me want to get on board a boat and get across the Solent to the Island. And sailing into or out of Portsmouth Harbour is always an adventure in itself.

I think that you will find that the Mods are much better looking on here, though;)

Actually it was so tightly modded that it was frustrating but it did mean that you had to find more subtle ways of inferring that your interlocutor was an arse.

When in Southsea, a visit to the tenth hole is good for breakfast or an enormous slice of cake :)

Not a fan of Portsmouth proper but Southsea is lovely.

Its such a shame that our Sheik was a fake, he could have shipped in a whole load of lovely golden sands from the Emirates to replace those, at times, rather painful pebbles!<laugh>

Those pebbles were the reason we rarely went to the beach when I lived in Portsmouth....though the front is now attractive.

I worked in Portsmouth for several years and as in all walks of life I met some really great people but also one or two absolute pricks. SB3 falls into the latter category of course but thankfully I have never met him.
