Brentford has become a huge game now , we could go as high as 5th with a win & Watford loss or pushed out of the running . This will be a great test for Alex this week, no more slopply goals and stupid penalties conceded .
Not surprised at all that Crissy Hootun is doing well at Brighton, he's a good manager - and nobody will convince me otherwise. He's without doubt the unluckiest Norwich gaffer I can remember, so if he finally gets a run of good fortune I expect them to be right in the mix next season (almost certainly far too much for them to do this year)
For what it's worth, after masterminding that epic result last night, I'm quite happy to continue doing binner matchday threads until further notice. If it means replicating that score every week, it'll be my pleasure!!
16 shots, 8 on target and played very well by all accounts. "impressive victory" says the BBC. But let's not bother worrying about what actually happened eh?
I, too, have no squit with Hughton and wish him well at Brighton. For various reasons things didn't work out for him at Norwich but what's done is done. We all move on (hopefully )
Hughton's record at Championship level is staggeringly good. He did a decent job with us initially, unfortunately he couldn't kick on, develop our style and find the right formula to improve us. It happens. Certainly wasn't a failure.
Whotun's boys played very well, I can take a defeat when a team plays well against us. probably shows more that whotun knew you boys were punching above you level and it was more damge limitation!
I said his record was quite misleading as he had sides who were basically prem sides in the championship, but I did say his Birmingham side were pretty poor on style and it was all centred around Zigic. they were good last night, texiera basically won them the match. I would also say they are in a false position due to hyppia being useless!
I did enjoy McCarthy's comment: "We've had one or two players missing through illness and injury and perhaps Brighton have gone up a couple of percent because they are playing us." Google translate: "I haven't a clue why we lost, so let's claim we're like 'mighty Man Utd' and that teams play better against us than against our rivals..."
Probably more to do with the fact Brighton are playing better under Hughton and Ipswich are in a bit of a dip, 'piss-easy' Millwall aside.
I did read somewhere that MM said they were once again, nowhere near their best. That might be why they lost, and nothing to do with Brighton being good
Quite an unbelievable season really... Forrest - early pace setters, then fell back, your lot then had a go and then fell back, Derby have never spent more than 1 match at at a time with the top spot. We've always been in striking distance but not been able to drag ourselves to the top. Bournemouth seem to be the only side (until now) who have held it and looked comfortable... Seems a little bit like a poisoned chalice
