What I read into the statement is "It's going to be hard to get promotion this year but with the squad we're putting together we think we can do it" in fact, that's almost exactly what it says. Seems as positive as it could have been without making stupid assumptions.

Simon what Ive noticed is you are a very positive person and at times it seems like you look down on others who don’t follow your viewpoint. IS this the case or are you just that positive? I know what you mean Malv I have doubted SG since the L1 wobble (although I thnk this is more to do with Bates being so tight fisted) but have always backed him & think he done a good job last term, could have done better but we can all say that about our own jobs. Should have rotated a bit more was his biggest failing IMO & bringing in Bannan & not actually playing him. If we are looking to improve the midfield then we are going to have to sign two excellent players to replace bradders & killa if Bannan couldnt better them!

Generally I'm quite balanced, I just make an effort to counteract the negativity on here. You should see me at home when I am being negative. One loss at the beginning of the season and I've been known to declare that our season is over. I don't see why the club have to be under so much pressure to sign players quickly though, as long as the right players are in place by the time the season starts . And I don't look down on people unless they're talking absolute **** like the idiots who always comment on the YEP.
To be honest, we are not too far away from having a team that could contend & if Bates is really going to santion 4 players coming in 2 midfielders 2 defenders & SG can work some magic (thats the worry) we could be right up there. My tips for promotion as it stands are Leicester & West Ham. Dark horses Southampton & Ipswich.
I don't see how anyone rates Southampton for promotion, they only just scraped promotion and have made no major signings so far as all their targets go elsewhere. I also think Leicester may fail as they did last season. Burnley are the ones to watch for me.
