Can any kind person out there explain what a sim-free phone is? :emoticon-0101-sadsm

My current phone is on the point of collapse (mainly because I'm ready to stomp on it as it's so slow to do anything). I have a contract with Virgin which runs until July & I really just want to know whether, if I buy a sim-free phone, can I simply take the sim out of my old one and put it in the new one?

I did out here. Surely it actually means that a phone has not been locked into a single operator. Technology is not my strongest point though.

PM Toby..... I think he is good on these things....

Just an additional thought BB. There are two different sizes of sim cards, the normal one and a mini one. You would need to get an unlocked mobile that will take the size of sim that you have.

SIM-free means that you buy the phone of your choice without a SIMcard, free from any contract or commitment to a specific network. SIM-free phones come completely unlocked, allowing you decide what SIM card to use with them. Contract and pay-as-you-go SIMs should work in SIM-free equipments.

The bedroom door no longer closes now we have a new thicker carpet, so this afternoon I took it down and planed off what I thought was a generous amount of wood shavings before attaching it again. It still doesn't close...leading me to coin a new proverb; For every door that closes, another refuses to open.

That is one of the jobs I really hate - always end up taking too much off and there is a gap!

Good morning all from a very cold Weston-super-Mare. I have a fasting blood test at 9.00, which means nothing to eat and only water to drink from 9.00 last night. I can cope with no food for 12 hours but only water to drink is an absolute nightmare! <steam>

Have a good day! <ok>

Morning all from a chilly West West London - couple of good results for us last night and it will mean the pressure on Pearce will mount. Did anyone hear the spat between Danny Mills and Pearce on 5 Live over the week-end? - it was very funny.
Thanks in advance for the frothy AK.

Morning all, cold, the puddles are frozen, and foggy here. Doesn't look as if it will warm up much today. :( Decided to change my internet supplier as the service was very poor from the existing one. One minute it was fine, the next it would disappear to almost nothing. Making phone calls had become difficult and because the company does not own the phone lines and exchanges, you had to wait for days until a France Telecom engineer showed up. New modem on it's way, all I have to do now is find out how to cancel my current contract, and they do not want to tell me on their web-site. Phone up to a premium rate line and wait until they have enough money in the bank before they answer. I think a postage stamp will be cheaper. <grr>

Has anyone seen or heard from BabyDan recently - I miss his updates on the training ground - assume he still bangs the drum for 1881 too
