So lying on behalf of the Royal Family is acceptable?

Amazed (but not surprised...) to read on the Katrien thread on CL that one of the Bovril Slurpers has sent KM a bunch of flowers, after the horrible week she endured.
    Cringe.
    **** my old boots.
To think she had to explain her lies to her paying customers. Terrible.

You don't think that was Ackers, do you? The same one who "saw Curbs in the car park"? I think he travels incognito these days. I thought I spotted him as "pugrobin" on this forum, he disappeared after one post.

I think you missed all my points Royston.

When people start acting out of anger it is much easier to dismiss them. I wasn't saying you, or anyone else should not have said anything, just that the manner it was done was wrong. If they are going to listen to the fans views (admittedly unlikely) then it definitely wont be when RD or KM are berated by someone on a public train.

With regard to "craven" deference to KM my point was that when surrounded by people who were potentially hostile, with 1 person standing over her who is much bigger, shouting at her, she must have been justifiably scared for her safety yet still tried to answer as best she could in a foreign language to her, under such duress. That was admirable. If that was your wife, daughter, sister, mother how would you have felt about it then? I would rather empathise with her for this incident than vilify for a decision which we are yet to see the results of. I stand by the comments about her having more information than us with which to act upon. She might still have made the wrong decision and I don't like this farce with Guy Luzon and his work permit. Then again there might be something in the applications that makes him head and shoulders above the rest. If we had 20 applicants 1 being GL, one being Paul Jewell an other being Curbs and then 17 who have taken charlton to the champions league on football manager then she has picked one of the best applicants. We will never know because she cant talk about it.

As for your point on my risible line of putting a fans on RD's board, you have misquoted me entirely. I said "Hopefully more clubs will engage with fans, by putting a fans representative on the board" it is a general pipe dream about how maybe football as a whole can interact with fans and incorporate them into the more business side of football, so we don't lose that community feel of "our club" whichever club that might be. This is very different from the point you made, which is a fair point as I doubt that under RD we will ever get that kind of representation. My doubt goes to certainty when when there is a chance to interact with KM or RD they are shouted at.

Oh and by the way if KM or RD are reading this, I have taken Charlton to the champions league on Football Manager and if they are looking for GL's replacement already (in case they change their mind in a couple of days) I am available. Although I fear I would probably be berated on the train too....

I'm sure they'd find a place for you on their scouting team.

As long as I told them the player they are already registering for the squad from Standard will perform admirably in the championship

For some reason my browser won't play the video so I've not seen it. But if the individual did indeed overstep the boundaries of what could be called 'making a reasonable point / protest, then he's out of order.

We're all angry at this time and none of us are fooled into thinking that RD, or his poodle KM have any care or concern for the best interests of Charlton Athletic and so I suppose it was inevitable that somebody, given the opportunity, was going to vent his spleen on her. Not a nice thing to do.... almost bordering on bullying. We should leave that sort of thing to the Bermondsey Hooligans.

I personally wouldn't have done it. I've long since learned to accept supporting Charlton with stoicism. I certainly don't condone it. But perhaps it has put a rocket up her arse and might just prompt some introspection as to what she's all about and whether she's really happy to be nothing more than a lap dog.

Sadly though, when this kind of doorstepping tactic is the only way that fans can get their message over to the CEO, then it is difficult to feel any more sympathy for her than that which is demanded by good manners and upbringing. Would writing to her or sending an email do any good or elicit a response? I don't think so. Will RD or KM attend a fans forum in person and answer questions from the floor? Fat chance.

This club is in a terrible position and it won't get any better all the time this wretched administration is running our club. If I met Katrien Meh, the question I would ask her is: Why us..? What did we ever do to you?

Blackheath, I had this problem. Do you have Flashblock (see Tools/Add-ons). If so, click the Disable button and then the auto restart (I'm in Firefox).

    Worked for me.

KM was lying about the "20 applicants". There were not 20 applicants because the job was never advertised for people to apply for, contrary to her statement. Luzon's wife started following CAFC Official on Twitter on 29 December. Fact. I wonder why.

I don't doubt 20 people got in contact as soon as BP going went public. I just don't think any one of them were ever considered.

I doubt if you'd find a single Charlton fan who thinks they were. Katrien seems to be sticking to this silly line, but nobody is listening. She'll have to accept this.

I do not recognise the legitimacy of the House of Windsor. The last King of England, was Richard III of House Plantagenet, whom could trace their lineage back to William the Conqueror (whom we know that Edward the Confessor passed the Throne onto).

If, in five hundred years time, the decaying bones of Roland Duchatelet are fund buried beneath a car park in Liege, I doubt anybody will want to re-inter them in St Lukes churchyard at the top of Church Lane.

Rather, it would be more appropriate if, like Alfred the Great, his bones were found by convicts put to work clearing land to build a prison and scattered by them for a laugh, thus ensuring they were lost forever and he had no recognised resting place for all eternity.

Before anybody thinks otherwise, I do not conflate RD with Alfred the Great. One was a great leader and a blessed visionary who united his people and brought them together in a united cause, for the common good. The other is a Belgian git.

Sorry, I'm struggling to understand a lot of the 'victim' sentiment here... she's a CEO, FFS. She has a powerful board-room position in a multi-million pound enterprise, and paid appropriately, she must deal with this kind of guy on a daily basis. She's seemingly lied to tens of thousands of people and is sticking to that, about a subject that those people are deeply passionate about. She also doesn't seem to have particularly complained about her treatment here. I'm not sure why, just because she's a woman, she's being seen as a poor, defenceless victim... would people be crowing so loud if this was Roland being talked at? She's a strong, modern woman who's put herself in a role where she will get aggressive people talking at her if she's not performing at the level she should be... so long as that doesn't cross the line into a sustained campaign of abuse or anything physical I think this is all a bit of an overreaction. The guy's obviously a bit of a tool, but don't jump to the conclusion that Katrien is seriously shaken and upset by here experience, she's probably just laughing at him.. or, if I give her supreme credit she probably doesn't deserve... she travels on the train exactly to get these kind of opinions so she hears the voice of the fans (yeah, OK, I take that back).

There's about as much chance of Roland fronting up to the fans as there is of him doing a lap of honour at the Valley after leading us to the Premier League. At least she spoke the truth when she said that Roland will do it this way, and we must accept that. Roland is paying her well to take the flak which is inevitable if you're going to run out of Bovril.

The minutes from the Fans Forum meeting with Catherine Mare really were beyond parody. "The East Stand keeps running out of Bovril". And apart from daft old Fanny, has anyone got any idea of who the rest of the Forum members are, and how they were elected?

Like all tyrants and self-proclaimed emperors, he'll be the architect of his own destruction, bludgeoned by his loyal CEOs of Charlton, Standard de Liège, FC Carl Zeiss Jena, AD Alcorcón and K. Sint-Truidense V.V. The moment he releases his ideal of a perfect "Network" failed, was when Guy Luzon betrays him.
