    ............... could define our season.

    H Burnley
    A Swansea City
    H Queens Park Rangers
    H West Brom

If we can get 6 or 7, or more, points from those we could avoid another struggle to the wire.
We also have the chance to deprive 3 of our rivals of points.

I had the fear before we signed Defoe because I couldn't see us being able to break teams down in games where the onus is on us to do so.

Now a bit more positive about the situation

I think we'll beat Burnley. Follow that with point from Swansea and it's a good set of fixtures to go on a run and take 10 from. God knows we're due one, we even had one last season <laugh> But we're Sunderland so that will probably mean a point from Swansea and a point here and there from the home games with an embarrassing loss thrown in for good measure. <doh>

Or maybe somewhere in the middle. :p

I would be looking for 3 home wins against that lot but knowing us, 6/7 points would be good.

I said 10 on an earlier thread. That has to be our realistic target. It will make such a difference to us and our nearest and dearest.

We just simply have to win these 3 home games, a draw at Swansea would be nice but difficult.

If QPR lose at Stoke to make it first 11 away games all lost, I'm afraid I'll be betting the mortgage on them to end the run at our place. We always drop our performance to allow poor teams/players to end their bad runs.

Swansea are there for the taking as much as any of the other teams, they looked toothless against Chelsea, absolutely disinterested.

It's as if all of the players have watched Bony leave and have just said '**** this, what's the point?'.

Swansea will probably have lashed out their £20odd million by the time we play them. Hard to call that one based on current form.
Still fancy us getting a point there though.

Just sorted my tickets for that so I'm hoping we come back with at least a point ........ still think Monk will fail.

Who've they been linked with? £20m will get you much more in the summer, they're not gonna challenge for anything this season, so why not just write the season off and plan big for next season, giving themselves 6 months prep for the summer window, they could have a really good summer.

I'm having you lot in at least one of my coupons on that day, I'll get good odds!

Depends what you define fail as Smug. If they finish in the top half I'd count that as a successful season. We would, in their place.
For what its worth, I think they will do so.

I think he'll finish bottom half and buy badly in the summer .... I think they'll sack him next season

I'm sure the current players respect him but I can't see the name 'Gary Monk' attracting the best players available.

They were linked with someone yesterday, just can't remember who.
Question is, will they back Monk this window with the Bony money? Monk will be desperate to get his hands on it this window to give him options for the last half of the season, and maybe the chance of another season, if he thinks he could be at risk?

Maybe Napoli will give them Michu back, he's not getting a game out there.

He was on fire the season before last, £2m they could have sold him for big money as well.
