Hello guys, I am not as optomistic on this coming season as a lot of the views on here. Don't get me wrong, I am not a doom meister but have we bought well and is there money in the pot for more. I was really looking forward to this season as the last finished and fancied us as real contenders this year but now feel we are dropping down the pecking order for the season. I never expected West Ham to buy as they are or as the rumour mills are speculating and felt that they would be relegation fodder this season. There seems to be a lot of teams now that seem to be on the up and we are not flagging but are not as energised as we would a couple months ago. The Bullard issue must be driving all of us crazy now, I really want him to stay as I feel he is still class and has a couple of really good seasons ahead of him in this league or the Prem. I am wrong to be feelinig like this or are there more out there that feel like me. Again I am not a down beat sort of guy but for some reason I can not see promotion at the end of this coming season. I do feel Big Nige is the right man for us and would like him to stay at the club for years to come but I do not see us being up there this season. UTT, Woody
I think we have bought well. We obviously didn't have much money to play with and I'm glad we've spent it on Dudgeon, Evans and Hobbs. McKenna and Adebola are decent freebies in positions we needed to strengthen. We need goalies, obviously but we still need some attacking wide players who I think will come from loans. I don't think we've slipped down the pecking order. We were the 11th best team in the league last season and probably 6th-8th best after January. Looking on paper, I don't think there'll be many more than 6 or 7 squads better than ours. I agree with you that i felt we could really push on this summer but the financial situation is more precarious than we knew. So I'm happy to take no chances.
Its not about money. Its about blend, desire and team ethic. Just as we saw in 2008. By the end of August we should have a slight clue to the season ahead.
Have we bought well?. You taking the piss. Adebola and McKenna (free) , bought Hobbs (expected) and Dungeon (a while ago expect) Leicester - Schmeichel , Nugent , St Ledger, Danns (free) , Peltier - not sure of any more. That is Bought Well.
I think alot of any upcoming success sits on Simpsons shoulders..he starts scoring and we have a shot, though if he cant hit a barn door with a banjo again were going to have to wait till jan transfer window again by which time will prob be to late by then anyway and thats speculating the new guy starts scoring from the off too!.
Schmeichel is overrated, Nugent is okay, St.Ledger is ordinary, Danns in good and Peltier is untested at Championship level. Don't judge players until you've seen them play for us and certainly don't write off the season with only a third of the transfer window gone.
Leicester have bought in number but not necessarily well. I have personally always thought Nugent over-rated, and have always thought sean st. ledger has looked pretty dreadful. Peltier is a good L1 player, dont think he will set the championship on fire. Schemicel and Danns are the only signings that I think are inkeeping with a team looking at automatic promotion.
I'll stick to what I said 10 years ago: All I want is for my football club to be competing in the championship, and entertaining me without constantly playing hoof ball all match (a little is ok). Last season was good enough for me and something similar is more than acceptable. I do feel that we are building for the future, rather than next week - I don't remember a time when it really felt like we were building for the future.
If buying well means that you could go bust then give me Hobbs, Mckenna, Adebola, Dudgeon and Evans any day! Were spending within our means why cant people accept this ****ing tards
YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS. With the possible exception of Neil Danns non of the rest would improve Hull City. You really do need to do your homework better on the players we have signed. Once you do that then you shall know why NP signed them for the Tigers. We dont need an overhaul just minor tweeking. Cheer up you could be a Leeds fan. Lol
How much in fee's have leicster spent Steve? and how much will they be on in wages at leicester? I know Nugent is on 25k a week there, Danns 15k+? so what happens if they dont go up? and get the prem money to cover the wages and transfer spending? We've just almost gone out of business and people want us to splash silly money and sign anyone who wants 20k a week!!! give your heads a massive bang men!! il put it down to Low IQ's lol!!! infuriates me!
Our seasons prospects will be decided by players out. We have more than enough to hold our own with what we have now but shifting some exxpensive deadwood may open the door for some exciting loans to make it stronger. Still a month until the Blackpool game. There are plenty of good players out there still looking for moves/clubs. Keep the faith.
Good shout, i think with our hands tied despite what they say about the Bullard wages etc the signings are reasonable i do actually think The dudgeon and Evans signings are great. Shift Bullard etc and we may see some players come in who are "acceptable" in the eyes of some fans, but good stuff from the managment/owners keeping it real and not spending money we aint got.
Nugent is a good player. Danns is a good player. Schmeichel would only improve our team because we haven't got a Goalkeeper. Peltier is an uncertainty, but let's not forget he's played for us before (just to remind you, he was fookin' awful). St Ledger is one of the worst players I've ever seen at this level.
Why do people stupidly exaggerate these things? If St. Ledger is one of the worst players you've ever seen at this level, you can only have seen 1 game. He's a decent solid defender. He's not as good as Jack Hobbs, IMO, but he's played at this level for a long while and been looked at by plenty of clubs.
Do you know this? He was definitely on £60K a week at Pompey... I don't think Leicester will do as well as everyone is predicting. Anything but a strong start will cast doubt over the manager's future straight away, and if they aren't in the top six by Christmas Sven will be gone. Major expectations in this league often end up in failure. I have no problems with our signings so far. Hobbs, Dudgeon and Evans we all kind of knew would happen, McKenna is a great acquisition for our midfield and Adebola could turn out to be decent. 2 keepers, another centre half (if McShane ****s off) and a couple of loans will do very nicely
Doesn't mean to say they will perform well together, although on paper it should be a cinch to win the Championship.
