It doesn't look good for Best though. Neither Shola or Lovenkrands has been put on the transfer list but Best has. So rightly or wrongly if they are going to use anyone as a make weight in a transfer it'll be Best.

 

I really don't get why Best has been put on the list but Shola and Lover haven't even though they're older and more than likely on higher wages.

I'll tell you why because shola and lover are happty enough being part of the SQUAD rather than being automatic selections. Lovenkrands came out and said he knows that football is a squad game these days. they'll both get a few chances to keep their toes in the pool at the highest level and they're both at the tail end of their careers. they honest professionals and don't cause anybody any grief.

Personally i think Leon best is a championship player that had one very good game albeit against the worst team we played last year. Long is young and hungry and obviously has a btter eye for goal than best going off the back of their championship goal records. i'd happily take him in a player plus cash. he wants to keep shola because he clearly wants two big men, too little men and two second strikers/playmakers.

i think its good to have those kind of options as well as cover.

 

why hasnt Lover been put on the list?.
he's a trier, but is past it. And Shola looks disinterested most of the time he's on the pitch.
At least Best runs after the ball and can finish.We shouldn't be getting rid of a striker just to bring in a striker.

How long is Shola's contract? Getting sick of that useless prick getting picked over better players and doing **** all for 80 minutes of every match.

 

I'd rather have Long. I'm not a big fan of Best and in terms of natural ability, Long is much much better.

Long is also not bad and not brilliant BUT he might get much better. I would be happy enough with a swap

And we would probably have a decent striking set up.

 

Best has scored 6 premier league goals
Long has scored 5
Long is younger and in general a better player.

 

Both are improving, Long improved a hell of a lot last season, as did Best with a consistent run of games in the PL.

 

Long is so like Doyle it's ridiculous. Every time I've seen Reading he's been good, but sort of "stands out in a bad/overachieving team" good. I don't think he'd be revolutionary in the EPL, and certainly not worth losing Best and money. No chance about that!
