After 2 draws in a row, Martinez says Everton were frustrated because West Brom were organised and they hit the post instead of scoring despite their dominant play

Can't see why anyone is surprised that Martinez is being found out.

Wigan, FA cup or not, were consistently awful, routinely heavily beaten, very few good signings.

Exactly. He achieved very little at his respective clubs bar winning the FA Cup.

Last year, he benefited from a well drilled defence as a result of Moyes's tenure. Now we've come into the second season, they've lost that ability as Martinez has had more time to ruin them.

    Quite amusing really.

And we get to watch it all happen again next season when Man Utd's defence crumbles <ok>

Does anybody seriously think Martinez will be sacked? Is this what we would have ended up like if we had signed him? Does this mean we got the better option in Rodgers?

He would be sacked by us for being dumped out of cups and no chance of European football, but for Everton it's not worth sacking him when relegation is unlikely.

Rodgers is blatantly way better than Martinez.

I said yesterday this is exactly what Moyes did in his 2nd season at Everton and they were patient with him, far too patient mind, he should have left sooner to further his ambition and let Everton get a manager who was going to take them places.

Look the issue is Martinez has had a record of bad defence just like Rodgers

Let's not big up our spoofer here

Martinez needs a bit of cash to get a few attackers in, the style Everton need is piling forward and hoping for the best with this guy IMO

If they keep Barkley, lukaku, Coleman and will keep Baines I think the need to add a pacey forward is obvious now

I can't see Martinez doing a moyes and sticking cms up top and playing defensive

If towards the end of the season Everton are in a dog fight for survival...they are going to look at the
    penalty missed against West Brom.

New school of management, young managerswho want their teams to keep the ball for 30 minutes without interruption on the basis that they don't need to defend when you have the ball...

Problem is the opposition go and score 3 in the 15 minutes you don't have the ball to ruin the plan <grr>
