It would have helped this lady if 1) she wasn't about 30 odd and 2) if she didn't wear really dirty clothes.
Yes, objectifying women (and men) is harmless. Good riddance to page 3. Although it's still objectifying women, but at least it's a step in the right direction.
Have I told you the story of a woman who pointed to a heavily discounted washing machine and said, how much more off do I get for being a pensioner..?
Good riddance to all them women losing their jobs..... Good riddance to the pics of celebs with their tops off..... Oh wait.
Not just models losing their jobs is it? It is only tits! I don't see anything wrong with it. If it was fully nude then fair play. People just like to think the page 3 girls are exploited etc etc when it isn't the case at all. If you don't like it don't buy it. It's like me picking up a women magazine and complaining they cater for women more then men or complaining they show male celebs with very little on.
Agreed, good riddance to it. There are plenty of places where people can look at topless photos of women [and men, Fran ] to their heart's content, if they want. It wouldn't have been quite so bad of The Sun perhaps if they'd objectified men as well to the same degree over the last 40 odd years. I see that it is going to continue online anyway, but it's a step in the right direction.
Yep it's the whole "we don't like it so must stop it" crap. Long as it is legal I don't care. If I find something I dislike I ignore it, kind of simple really.
Every single female relative, friend, acquaintance, work colleague, whatever... I have known, have all objected to The Sun's output of page 3, over the years. Most males I know, after weighing up the rights and wrongs, have [some reluctantly] come to the same conclusion. Just because you see nothing wrong with it, doesn't mean that there isn't.
I'm not a page three man, but what gives you the right to dictate what a model can or can't do, or should it shouldn't do? If a woman wants to be a model and 'get her tits out' she is entitled to. Fyi I don't think a newspaper is the right place, but doesn't mean I am right or wrong.
Indeed, but like FLT said, I don't it's the place of a newspaper to have that kind of content. News might be better, eh..? And do remember, it wasn't just me. It was a whole host of women too. There's a trend there, don't you think..?
Was it all women in the UK? Still a very little group of people complained and made up a campaign about it. Small groups that don't like something should not get to govern what the majority can and can not have.
The few should not be voices for the many. Yeah we can do nothing about the government. But we shouldn't stop people enjoying (legal)things if we don't agree with them. Add that to more people will lose their jobs then I feel it is kind of sad.
I don't think page 3 is appropriate but I never cared enough about it. if you want tits, look at your wife/gf or watch some porn. its so easily accessible now, why have it in a newspaper?! mind you, cant really call the sun a newspaper, its just a rag.
