Not sure but it does not seem that cut and dry, how come it was late friday before they knew he would not have it in time. Unless we had a blip or a big blip in getting it rather than it was not done in time

    Now all gone quiet

I was going to write up about this on the train home from work, tonight, titled:

    Work Permit: The Conspiracy

I got a theory that this whole not getting a visa is a load of cobblers. Katrien Meire and Roland Duchâtelet looked at the next two games (Watford and Wolves) and thought to themselves, there's no way he's going to win those matches given they're top of the form charts, and the fans might revolt (given his bad start) and in light of recent events.

It's easier to make up some story, and then (1) Blame it on Peeters damaging effect and (2) Matthews, not being a proper "head" coach, though they'll thank him gratefully for being a caretaker.

They'll let Luzon take over for the match against Rotherham, which in fairness should be a win. They'll come out and say "see we made all the right decisions... he's the man to take us forward... we always do things for the best of Charlton..." that media bulls*** that seems to be emanating from our PR team.

Totally believable, except for the bit about winning against Rotherham. I did have it down as the last match we would win this season, but I now think that is maybe optimistic,

Wouldn't the Home Office or whoever speak up if it were a lie?

    No conspiracy; just consistent incompetence.

    Serious question:

Before the Home Office issues a work permit, doesn't the employer have to demonstrate that they have advertised / offered the job to suitably qualified UK nationals ?

They do have to advertise but there are a few exceptions where they don't, like for medical staff or:

The position requires an intra-company transfer, which is for employees being transferred within a corporate group, for example from an overseas parent company to a UK subsidiary. In order to utilise this category, the employee must have spent at least six months in the organisation elsewhere in the world and reasons must be given for needing their skills and experience in the UK organisation.

I bet they have used this loophole. Whether they get questioned as to the reasons a UK national doesn't have the required skills I doubt. This isn't known as soft-touch UK for nothing.

While I agree your explanation is more likely, you do not have to tell lies to conspire. They could "accidentally" fill in the forms incorrectly, send them to the wrong department, fail to include all required documents, etc.. That **** goes on all the time in business, politics and the media so why not in football, which is now one of the dirtiest businesses around. And why should the Home Office need to say anything, so long as the applicant was not being fraudulent? As far as I know, Charlton have not implied the Home Office was at fault.

The Home Office have better things to do with their time, so very much doubt they'll ever comment on, unless he commits a serious crime. It's Guy Luzon, not the Obama Birth Certificate debate.

I meant if it's been publicised by the club and the club are exaggerating the truth as per the original post then it might be on their radar to refute the claims. I hadn't considered Eddie's points; to young and naive.

Also Obama was definitely born, I've seen him on the telly.

Yes, I am. Sorry. Once I am 700-odd years old like RD (see picture) I will be as crafty and ruthless as he is. I really need to drink more virgin's blood but that is a rare commodity in the Dominican Republic. I may be stuck out here for some time, by the way. If I do have to miss most of the season's run-in I suppose I have chosen the right year for it.

The whole episode that he was born in Kenya, given that his cousin is Raila Odinga former President of Kenya, and not Hawaii, and therefore under Article Two of the U.S. Constitution, is ineligible to be President of the United States. Was asked to produce his birth certificate, but ultimately refused. Was in the media during his election campaign, surprised that no-one picked up on it.

This whole Luzon work permit is not the end of. I've seen, "should be granted by the end of the week." That's not that convincing, and can be quite liberal in it's interpretation.

Sky news reporting it SHOULD be done today or tomorrow.

Has someone crossed there palm to get this pushed through?

Is it a agency that we can enquire through FOI, to find answers on how why he managed to get a work permit, assuming he does

We have a tiny squad and now a manager with no Championship experience.

Not even RD's millions/billions could buy us a victory on Saturday against the most in form team in the league.
