QPR defender Mauricio Isla is still smiling despite swapping another Serie A title shot for a relegation scrap.
The Chilean right-back joined the Rs in the summer on a season-long loan from Juventus after winning two consecutive top-tier titles in Italy.
Juve are top of the table again while Rangers are second from bottom in the Premier League. But Isla does not regret his decision despite getting stick from back home.
"Coming here was my decision and the Juventus directors allowed me to join," he said.
"I'm really really happy here, this is where I want to be. People may ask if it was a tough decision to leave Juventus, because they are always at the the top of the league and QPR are fighting relegation.
"Bu all I wanted to do was play football and I'm very happy that it is happening. I am doing very well here and I want to stay here.
"A lot was said, especially back home in Chile, when I took the decision to move to QPR. They said it was the wrong decision and asked, 'why would you leave a side like Juventus who are always fighting for trophies and go to a club just fighting relegation?'
"But I was convinced about my decision to come here. I wanted to play and play Premier League football. I wanted to play for this club, QPR and be a regular here. I want to be here."

I think he's done really well - got progressively better and adapted to the Premiership and a new position very quickly.

Good player. We need to stay up so we can keep players like this who, in turn, will help attract better players.

Probably fair to say that he has adapted quickly because his attitude is right and he wants to be here.
    Great stuff!
As far as I'm concern, he's just won my favourite player of the month award.

I thought Vargas was going to be the better of the 2 when they started (in fact I thought Vargas was going to be very influential) but now I actually think Isla has been the better one, adapted a lot better.

Maurice is my favourite player this season by a distance. Would be nice if we could play him where he should be played.

I am surprised that all the second guessers on here have started telling us what he really means.

"It's obvious that he hates it here but he was obviously paid a lot of money to say the right things. Obviously there is something wrong ... and that's obvious."

After a very shaky start he has become one of our most consistent performers. Would love to see what he is capable of as a wing back.

He's done well, but like many others I think he gives the ball away too much and too easily, very noticeably last Saturday.

Agree, he is trying hard it seems. At least when he gets the ball he is looking to go forward, rather than back or sideways.

I am surprised at the second-second guessers ????

Who obviously second guess, what was intended by interchanging words, with intended and un-intended intrepretations.

Now..... what did he really say ???? Or more to the matter what did he really mean ??? Obvious ? No ?

Maurice and Eddie, though the latter isn't playing very well, do actually want the ball and don't need a big neon sign pointing the direction to the opposition goal - Adel is the only other one like this. Ned, Dunne and Clint think the ball has ebola and want to get it as far away as possible as quickly as possible. Caulker basically feels the same but sometimes he tries to make friends with the ball by taking it on a trip up the wing. Karl Henry quite likes the ball, but he thinks it's very delicate and doesn't trust himself with it so passes it as gently as possible to the nearest player. Barton hates the ball, it shows him up every week - but he's addicted to it, like crystal meth. Leroy Fer likes the ball, but he doesn't want to share it with anyone else and doesn't like anyone but his wife invading his personal space, so he runs away from the ball a lot. Bobby doesn't really need a ball to do his job. Charlie only likes the ball if he can see the opposition goal when he gets it. Hoilett and Phillips are too traumatised by the ball to be allowed anywhere near one at the moment. Rio has forgotten what a ball is.

Anyone remember Redknapp as a part time West Ham player? The ball wasn't his friend either.

Has virtually improved with every game.

His defending is far better than at the start of the season & he makes runs in advance of our attackers. His passing could be better, but that applies to every single one of our players! He will score for us some time this season.

For me, he is currently our player of the season.

Taken largely from the interview he gave for our programme last Saturday. I like him going forwards but he has slipped up defensively a few times. Good signing.

Watching him in the warm ups he genuinely seems to enjoy life and I'd imagine he's a real positive influence on the team. Really like him
