For those who have been to games recently, does a now complete stadium make a difference to the atmosphere at the Vic?

definitely it does...not necessary for the noise levels, though it definitely helps to keep the sound in, the accoustics are bad enough as it is, but just having fans on all four sides closes it in and makes it a much better place to be! :). I can't imagine the SEJ stand will create much noise but it's another wall of bodies and that has to be a good thing :)

The fourth side does keep the sound in and the 1881 do their stuff. The "Mexican Waves" went well right around the ground and fair play to the Charlton fans for joining in yesterday.

Can' t agree on the Mexican Wave - I would throw people out for doing it. Do agree the new stand is an improvement though.

Yes, the new stand really does keep the sound in and the 1881 led stuff is spreading across The Rookery - the "Bounce in a Minute" really spread over.

Ah, chanting - I remember that. Back of the Rookery roaring out such chants as:

Ob-la-Dee, Ob-la-dah, Barry Endean, Barry Endean is our King .......(long afore Marlon).
He's up, he's down, he's in the Rose & Crown - Rodney Green, Rodney Green.
Knock, knock. Who's there? Hale. Halewho? Halewho, halewho, we are the Watford Boys.
    All I want is a bottle & brick, hand-grenade and a walking stick, a L*t*n fan to.....(remainder censored).
Knees up Mother Brown etc. (usually on away grounds like Barrow, Gillingham, Tranmere)
Jingle Bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way, oh what fun it is to see Watford win away (round about Xmas time of course - culminating in the win at Dean Court, Boxing Day 67).
High-ho silver lining and many more....

not forgetting Stewart, Stewart Scullion, clap, clap

You cannot buy these in the shops!

Sadly because of the shape of the Rookery and the greyhound track, most of the chanting couldn't be heard much beyond the Rookery End goal........

Oh for the ground we have now (and the chanting we had then), or am I just too nostalgic?

Dum di dum di wait for me, what's his name KEN FURPHY!!!"

    "Chopper, Chopper Welborne, ooh ooh!"

Ooh, nurse- 'ave we 'ad tea yet?:D

    Tiptoe through the Rookery
With your razor and your sawn off shotgun
    Tiptoe through the rookery
    With me

    Tiptoe through the Oak Road
With your handbag and your water pistol
    Tiptoe through the Oak Road
    With me

There were many more unPC songs too. I won't repeat the one about Alex Stock to the tune of the Teenage Opera.

And, with thanks to The Kinks and Dead End Street

There's a crack up in the ceiling
and the Oak Road end is leaking
Out of work and got no money
Sunday joint of bread and honey

    What are we living for?
to see L*t*n in Division 4....
    What are we gonna do?
    See Watford in Division 2..

    Both somewhat prophetic. :)
