You too Watford? Terry nearly had an embolism as we were walking to the match seeing them sold, to the extent he accosted a seller asking who the **** buys them. Answer -tourists, as souveniers. Lot of American accents at LR today. No, I have never bought one. But then again I wear a Hertha Berlin scarf (same colours) to matches so that probably makes me a ****. And Hertha Berlin are almost as bad as us.
Watford I wanted to punch the seller out. I couldn't believe it them selling that cr@p. I noticed it was all United fans that had them. Nearly all that had them were American or at their first game. Embarrassing how plastic clubs like Manure/Chelsea have these @@@@'s as fans
Totally agree why so many of them as well!! Lot of touts today as well every 5 yards got any spare tickets or want a ticket!
United's away support is best in Prem, don;t Doubt many 'first game' United fans managed to get in the United for their first game. United's away support is superb and you need a zillion credits to get an away United ticket. Your post makes me think there must have been a lot of United fans in Rangers sections, like the old days when the whole of the Ellerslie would sing 'We are cockney reds' and the Schools End would sing '**** off Cockney reds'.
Sounds like you've spent a lot of time at Loftus Road, surprising given that my understanding is you rarely go to your team's games. Uncomfortable in those plastic trousers I suppose.
I haven't bought one, but I think they're fine for Cup Finals or Playoff Finals as a special occassion. Our first ever game at Wembley for example I have an unused ticket (so incredibly rare), the programme, and a match scarf in just our colours along with a panoramic picture of Wembley's interior that I intend to get framed at some point. I think a half and half scarf would be an acceptable alternative for something like that. If you've bought them for a normal league game though you're a ****. Just wait until you get people selling the QPR/Burnley half and halfers though.
I saw one in the Upper Loft yesterday that I didn't mind at all. Shamrock Rovers - Queens Park Rangers. Same as is a United fan was wearing an LA Galaxy - United scarve. Those are the type of games where they are fine. I was actually told by a seller that the scarves have the date of the game printed on them. That must make buying them worthwhile! I do suspect though that most sold yesterday were to one off United fans who were sitting in the home ends. Perhaps, Ian Taylor should not give the person the benefit of the doubt & class all wearers as away fans sat in home areas!
Never bought one, not at the play off final or cup .... hang on leave that one. Only way I would consider doing so is if I were to make money off it, but I would still feel dirtier than Jordan's tampon
I like some of them in certain circumstances. I bought my brother a QPR -- Celtic one and he has it hanging (rather tastelessly) on his living room wall.
Shamrock Rovers v QPR scarf bought for my daughter. Guess that's me relegated to the **** division then, huh, Watford? I'll never sleep again! ;-)
Did anyone actually see any Utd fans in our sections. There were obviously some in the School lower as there are always away fans in there, but I didn't see any anywhere else.
Only got one once. Took my son to Wembley for Carlisle v Brentford in the Johnston's Paint Trophy. Went to be with his cousin, a ST holder with Brentford. It was a nice souvenir of the match for a neutral.
Collectable half and halfs: Rangers Celtic Lazio Roma Austria Vienna Rapid Vienna Portsmouth Southampton etc etc
Never understood the mentality of half-n-half scarves, and personally wouldn't buy one...but I take the point that it would be a good souvenir (would still prefer an All QPR scarf with FA Cup final and something written on it, rather than have the other teams colours infecting it)
Bet there's some bampot designing a QPR-Chelsea one for our upcoming fixture....can see that going down well
