I took quite a bit of a bashing for my own bash at the match ratings which I totally stand by as justified, I think we are currently a nothing side, a side with no values, no goals, no modus operandi that everyone believes in - nothing. I also believe that the Premier League is absolute cack where a massive proportion of players are not even fit!!
As far as value for money - as Stan has previously alluded - it would win no TCO (Total cost of Ownership) competitions. So just to be a bit more provocative, choose your own 11 from the below lists taken at 5 year intervals and let's see who we think are giving us VFM.

    2014/15 --- 2009/10 ---- 2004/5---- 1999/00

    Green ----- Kenny ------- Day -------- Miklosko
    Isla -------- Orr ----------- Forbes ----- Ready
    Hill -------- Hill ------------ Padula ----- Darlington
    Onouha --- Connolly --- Carlisle ------ Carlisle
    Dunne ---- Gorkss ------ Shi;ttu ------- Maddix
    Henry ---- Faurlin ------- Ainsworth ---- Langley
    Barton ---- Derry -------- Rowlands ----- Peacock
    Fer -------- Mackie -------- Rose -------- Wardley
    Vargas --- Routledge ----- Mcleod ----- Murray
    Zamora ---- Taraabt ----- Furlong ---- Kiwomya
    Austin ---- Helguson ----- Gallen ------- Gallen

    Here's mine

    Green
    Forbes
    Padula
    Carlisle 99/00
    Maddix
    Faurlin
    Rowlands
    Derry
    Routledge
    Tarraabt
    Austin

So after all that money the same amount of players from 15 as 00. That's VFM for you!!
And I'd take the 00 and 05 defenses over the current one that's for sure.
I'll be nice and edit and give Green the benefit of the doubt over Kenny.

    How do you define VFM?

The majority in the last two teams listed got us promoted into the EPL

(ticket cost x games attended)/ (goals scored - goals conceded) x points accumulated / price of a lager x average leg space = VFM

Actually 100% of the 2010 side got us promoted. On a fraction of what the remnants that is the 2015 side has come to cost.
The sad thing is that all those sides played in the Championship where this current one is heading. Where will we be then? Do you think ALL that money and the legacy we got has been in any way well spent?

How likely would this year's team beat the others?

Thanks. I just couldn't recall if Connolly was in at the promotion end of 2011. Old grey matter not what it used to be!

It is difficult to be certain about VFM - I guess will will all say 'yes' if we stay up. Also we probably don't know the real detail in the business part of the club as that won't all be in the public domain. They shifted a lot out in 2013-14 and still got promoted.

If we had a longer preparation for both promotions and will a better strategy we might be better placed long term. On the other hand we are in the EPL and may as well try to stay there if we can and put right what is wrong. Another relegation may really be difficult for the club. If the owners are willing to put their money on the line I trust them. They haven't tried to sell off assets - I think they are doing their best.

I'd rather have a fit Iceman than a fit OBZ.

My comment was meant to degrade Danish himself rather than his OP (which was actually quite good as it happens) due to an incident I'm certain he can't remember about 12 months ago. I regularly use people's posts to gain revenge on some comment they may (or may not....alcohol is regrettably a factor in my case) have made at some point in the past, regardless of thread or subject matter.

Its a theme that runs through my contributions on here that I'm afraid I cannot remedy, though I have tried.

:emoticon-0102-bigsm That's better. In fact one of our mods past or present (can't remember which, honestly) was commenting at the match that you have a terrifying recall of ancient posts, slights and vendettas. Whereas I can't even remember which of the two people I sit between said it. I prefer to think that my brain is a finely honed instrument, filtering the important and useful from the extraneous and useless unconsciously and instantly, rather than the more likely explanation.

Where did I leave my keys? And what is this place?

True....even our own mothers cannot tell us apart.
Do you remember that film "Twins" Stan ......No I am sure you can't.....but Roller and I are just like Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger....separated at birth.

Swords has always been somewhat wary of entering into too much banter with me Stan. He simply doesn't know where he has me and I'm not regular enough for him.
Either that or he was petrified of my stores to him of the Scandinavian beauties that have a penchantfor a bit of Oirish!! Think he was upset that he'd have to come out of his internet paradise to sample The Real thing.

2010 was a hungry skilful side with a beautiful balance and team spirit … said at the time you can't buy that and the club ruined it

    Green
    Isla
    Hill
    Onuoha (spelling)
    Maddix
    Faurlin
    Rowlands
    Fer
    Routledge
    Taarabt
    Austin

That's 8 out of the current squad (if you can count Faurlin). And we wouldn't have lost Routledge if Flabio had been prepared to put his hand in his pocket. Doesn't this rather disprove the OP?
