Like I said, "subjective" and therefore very creaky! It doesn't seem to take much to "distress" some people nowadays. (
As for farting in a lift, we didn't do it because we were taught manners, not because we were terrified of being whisked away in a police van. We shouldn't be offensive to others because it's not nice, not because it makes us number one target for the "hate crime" police.

There is some good stuff around nowadays, just not on the BBC. Looking forward to the last series of Peep Show. The League of Gentlemen wasn't THAT long ago....and it WAS brilliant.

Tbf, I think I thought Miranda was okay at first, but then realised the humours all the same and is mostly based on the fact that Miranda's tall and keeps falling over.

If you want to watch something good (not comedy), watch "Walking the Nile" on channel 4 Sunday at 9pm. One left of 4, but try it on catch up. Enjoyable

Whilst I was working in my railway ticket office yesterday a lady came in with a young lad and asked "How old do kids have to be before you pay for them?" I replied "five" The young lad said "I'm six. My mum told me to lie"

Why can't people accept that others have different sense of humour. I like Miranda, Not Going Out and Mrs Brown's Boys and they are popular so I am not alone. Miranda (which probably finished at the right time) is mainly aimed at women who make up half the population. They make comedies aimed at the young and I don't moan about them....I just don't watch them. It's the same criticism as Michael McIntyre gets...alternative comedians (aka as the alternative to funny) can't seem to accept that people like observational comedy and the world doesn't end because he aims his comedy at this group of people.

Ha ha. I shamefully remember taking my lad and daughter to the zoo for his 3rd birthday. Under 3s were free. At the gate I buzzed the window down and said "2 adults and 2 under 3s please".... Yes, my son said to the lady, "I am 3 today"

I want the world to practice this phrase for 2015: 'It's not for me.' Four syllables, that's it.

It's a more polite, reasonable and adult way to look at different media instead of jumping immediately to 'That's ****, and you're wrong'.

You mean like when someone expresses an interest in Glee?

But yes, your sentiment is correct, and while I am not a fan of Not Going Out, Mrs Brown's Boys, etc I respect the opinions of those who are (even if I don't agree with them)

Glee falls into the category of a programme that is not for me, but I have never criticised anyone for watching it...it gives people pleasure which is what entertainment is for.

Excuse me pepys, but nobody is questioning the person at all. They might have their tastes in whatever subject matter qustioned, and the questioner may wonder why, but nobody has been insulted, as far as I last looked. If anyone has resorted to suggesting someone is this or that [in a derogatory way] then they have done wrong and should know better.

I know, my comment is only in regard to the binary nature of opinions, especially on the internet. Everything is either the best thing ever or the worst, or a movie comes out which is a remake and someone's 'childhood is being raped'. Please. Go outside. Talk to your loved ones. Read a book with your kids. Anything.

Because people read the thread sir. You don't need to point out that you bought up Glee and everyone said how terrible they thought it was. It does not matter if someone dislikes what you like. It came across as whiny to me. Understand that this is a text-based communication and inference is not always clear, just as mine was not intended to wind anyone up.

I play Dungeons and Dragons, I'm a huge fan of pro-wrestling and curate a fanfic community. My wife alone makes fun enough of the things I like! It doesn't bother me any, just as some of her interests (performing standup, musical theater, improv) aren't for me, I equally don't mind anyone making jokes about my interests they don't get, or feel a need to defend them to anyone.

I wasn't trying to piss anyone off, but you're coming off as sore because people didn't like a song from Glee. Lighten up Francis.

Which is why my posts tend to be lengthy. I appreciate that people may see things in various shades of grey, instead of how their one sentence post suggests a black or white opinion. Hopefully, posters see that my aim is to convey that there are shades in between. Things are very rarely binary, as you put it, but according to internet forums, the vast majority of things are. We know that's not true though.
