A pundit said something like that yesterday: Big clubs grind something out when not quite at their best...perhaps we have to consider Saints are a big club now.
Not sure how Puncheon or Eriksen made it into Garth Crooks team of the week ahead of Elia, or Falcao ahead of Pelle but never mind.
I am surprised Elia didn't, even allowing for Crooks ineptitude, as he usually sees someone scores two goals and they're in. Crooks is a numpty and we shouldn't even be excited when one of ours gets in.
Why do we bother looking at Muppets like Crook's articles? The man is a "Tool" so don't give home air time
Maybe. Its obviously subjective but I like what Puncheon can bring to a game. He can be a bit hot and cold but when he's hot he seems virtually unstoppable.
Puncheon had a great game on Saturday and the result was very important for Crystal Palace. I didn't see our whole game so don't know what Elia's overall contribution was (other than the essential goals of course), but can see why Punch was given the nod.
Got some Palace fans giving me grief at work. Apparently we gave Ipswich over 5k tickets for their cup game but Palace only have had 3k which ar all gone. Anyone know why the difference?
I watched Burnley vs Palace and whilst Puncheon did play well, Zaha was the best player on the pitch by quite a way, every Palace attack went through him. I'm not sure why Puncheon was chosen ahead of Zaha or Gayle, but it's Garth Crooks so I'm really not surprised or bothered.
I think it is down to how much of the allowable allocation that Palace actually asked for, they may have underestimated the demand? "FA Cup rules allow for an away allocation of up to 15% of the home stadium. "However this is subject to the local Safety Advisory Group (SAG) agreeing to that ticket allocation number. "The SAG is made up of services such as the local council, police, fire brigade and the club amongst others and issues the stadium’s health and safety certificate".
Possibly there was a greater demand from Saints fans. The wait to get a ticket this morning was over an hour!
Surprising as Palace could have legitimately requested the full 4876. Maybe the police deemed them too much trouble or perhaps Palace themselves underestimated demand?
I just got mine online, only had to wait 2 minutes! I have to say, £12* to sit in Block 33 is fantastic value. Now's the time to buy folks! Edit: *Plus £1 booking fee.
Don't know why abnyone has such a downer on Garth Crooks. He talks the game as he sees it. Would be a pretty bloody boring case of punditry if he followed the herd. Besides, Puncheon did play very well indeed, and Eriksen was still the player I'd like to see in a Saints shirt. Both made vital contributions which decided the match. Elia did also. It must have been close. Perhaps next week for him.
http://www.themag.co.uk/the-mag-articles/truth-transfers-says-miracle-newcastle-compete-southampton/ Article pointing out the difference between our spending and that of Newcastle...finishing with the conclusion that we may have half the support but have 10 times the ambition. What some forget is that you would expect us to spend as we didn't start building years ago in the PL, but started nearer to scratch. And we had money to spend because we grew little seedlings then sold them as grown plants. Ashley has improved their financial position, but seems reluctant to spend.
