From Offish: TONY FERNANDES: ‘HARRY REDKNAPP IS STAYING’ Chairman Tony Fernandes has confirmed Harry Redknapp will be remaining as QPR manager. Press speculation has been rife in recent days that Redknapp’s position is under threat, but Fernandes – speaking exclusively to www.qpr.co.uk, on behalf of the Board – was keen to set the record straight, commenting: “There’s been a lot of rumours about Harry’s position being under threat, so I thought it was time to end all the speculation, so everyone can focus on the challenge ahead. “I firmly believe Harry is the best man to get us out of the position we currently find ourselves in. “He has great experience and having spoken to him at length over the last week or so, he is determined to turn this around and help us maintain our Premier League status. “This is Harry’s squad of players, so he is the man to move us forward.” He added: “The performance against Manchester United showed the players are behind him and that they have the stomach for the fight. “We know we need to improve our away form and Harry, his coaching staff and the squad will be doing all they can to turn around our fortunes on our travels. “It’s very tight in the table and we will do our best to strengthen where we can to give us the best possible chance. “The fans have been brilliant all season and all I ask is that they continue to back Harry and the team.” Read more at http://www.qpr.co.uk/news/article/t...-loftus-road-2212935.aspx#oAbIKfC4StTAMhBL.99
Can't ask for more than that at this stage and I do agree that the players played with some determination on Saturday which they might not have done if half the rumours were true.
I agree if HR is to stay then let's support him. Am not happy that he is as I am sure a different manager would have got us a point Sat, 3 points against Swansea and at least 1 or 2 points away from home by now. Apart fro WBA @ home, has HR 'won' us any points?
Well that's it then & ends all speculation regarding Harry, whether we like it or not the air has been cleared & we move & get behind management & team .
Clarity is good. We support at the ground, this place is for moaning. That's another 6 months lost in rebuilding this club from the ground up. Mind you, I'm beginning to think that's never going to happen, whoever the manager is.
It doesn't actually make much difference Nines. Let's see how happy everyone is after the next three games. The dreaded 'vote of confidence' has been delivered.
There was certainly no lack of effort on Saturday, just too may players in the wrong positions. Redknapp's tactical mismanagement and general negativity will continue to hold us back, I fear. I can't see us staying up now.
maybe the lack of net spending is in preparation of the championship under Sherwood.. Note TF comment that its Harrys team ie cant blame others all the time. Sends a clear message to HR
Speculation was always bad. That is over now Let him get on with it Let him have a couple/three of 6 month loans at least Tony...and let them get on with it He hasn't lost the players...and the team we see at LR is still fighting ...so the fans are still behind the team Here we go...it is going to be a bumpy ride
Disappointed to hear this but not surprised. I don't think that we are down already, but unless Redknapp makes a miraculous improvement in his tactical nous, if we stay up it'll be by luck more than judgement. Actually you could say that about promotion last year. Nevertheless I will continue to support the team, and would never boo them off the pitch. But I'll just have to be patient to see the back of the Charlatan.
Bad news. Another wrong Managerial decision from TF I think. I think many Managers would have done a better job the last year than Harry, and would for the rest of this season.
What I don't like about this is just this "I firmly believe Harry is the best man to get us out of the position we currently find ourselves in." Where is the evidence of this? What have you seen to believe this? It either shows Fernandes up as a fool, more so than he already appears in the footballing world, or he's resigned to our fate I've seen absolutely nothing from Redknapp since he first walked in the door that he is the best man for anything. How did it go the last time he was the best man to keep us up with half a season and a window to spare? In fact his record shows that he is 100% more likely to take us down than anyone else. Gutted, if only because a change would have been better than being thoroughly bored with the whole thing, the excuses, the blame passing, the Redknapp
Next - vital away games at Stoke, Sunderland and Hull, and home to Southampton. Somehow, I think we'll be revisiting this topic during February
