There's no point signing Defoe within building the structure around him. Yesterday, the Daily Telegraph suggested that Defoe is the greatest January signing. EVER! Any views?

Nailed it. We've got league loan and as many overseas loans as we want. If we can get DG and and Cabrals wages of the books for next half of the season I'd like another pacy striker. I'd also take the risk and dig into our overdraft and buy Bruma but I think that will happen in the summer.
He's getting in the Chelsea team over Cahill mate, I think Mourinho sees him as a future first team player who will be there a long time. His value must be 15+ million now. A non-starter, I reckon. Would love us to get Van Dijk in, a young, quick, ball playing centre half who grabs the odd goal!
Think you're thinking of a Zouma. I'm on about Bruma the winger who plays for Galatasaray. I'd leave the defence until the summer and Van Dijk would be my choice.
I think we still need a CB and a winger. IMO we should try and get Chris samba and Scott Sinclair on loan. Both have PL experience and would improve our squad.
Poyet went on record saying now it's quality and over quantity, and I agree with him. January is notoriously a hard month for really good players becoming available at a good price. We've done amazingly well to get Defoe and I think if he stays fit we now have enough to steer clear of the relegation fight. I'm comfortable waiting until the summer now to get 2 or 3 more quality players.
We have bought one player over 30 which is enough in my opinion. Crouch would be too much of a gamble with absolutely no chance of getting any money back on him..
Defoe's wages/deal is something new so could be an indicator on how much we will pay the right player so come Summer when players are available for nowt a similar deal could be struck. Maybe ES has a plan along those lines to follow balancing the books, by which time Congerton could be pretty adept in finding who or what we need the most. Pure speculation by me but not unreasonable.
I think 'staying up' will be enough of a 'payback'. We need someone who can gel with Defoe... And quickly! The next 3 or 4 home games makes or breaks our season.
I'm not expecting anyone else. This window seems v. tight on availability for the quality we need. No point just adding to the squad numbers with expensive, average players. I'd rather we gave youth a chance if we get injury ravaged.
buying one guy during this window is a huge risk strategy, if he gets injured and suspended we are screwed again. My heart sinks seeing Danny Graham being used now, we have hit quite a big low IMO
I have must have watched different games to you in the last two matches as Graham looked extremely sharp to me and has looked the most likely to get us goals..
