Given our wide forward options are Mane, Elia, Long, Tadic and Rodriguez I would assume that we would only sign him is Jay leaves?

Also has it been communicated what Elia's purchase price is?

There are no guarantees Elia will stay. I imagine Ings would be a more stable dressing room presence as well.

Read the other page , it's €3m so a bargain if he carries on like he has been.

From his interviews it is clear he wants to say and at £3m he is a bargain. If Ings comes in the summer that is a bonus and our squad just gets stronger and better. What a few years we are having just unbelievable!

You know what? I'm not looking at this from the point of view that he might not want to come, I'm looking at it from the point of view that the club might not decide he's good enough. He's started well (although both his goals yesterday were a bit lucky) but has only made two appearances. I think it's a bit early to judge him.

As Napoleon once famously said: "I have plenty of good generals, but give me a lucky one". With our leading striker in a lean patch, we need someone who can score goals, even if they are lucky ones.

I live by the mantra that I'd rather be lucky than good.

Elia's first goal wasn't that lucky. It was a good build up and Elia, under pressure produced a good shot. Not his fault it went under Krul.

Lucky maybe isn't exactly the right word for the first goal but it's close enough. Krul should really have saved that shot.

The real point I'm making is that it's too early to judge how good he is.

The question is whether he'll keep scoring goals, lucky or otherwise. His poor finishing and inconsistent form/effort have been the two hallmarks of his career to date; don't doubt that he'll be very highly motivated on a loan spell, but it's an open question whether it would continue if signed permanently.

Agree with what others have said.IF he keeps his head down and works hard, a pacey 27 year old with 27 caps for holland - £2.3m! That's incredible business.

I'd still like another striker this transfer window...

Definitely possible; not saying that he hasn't, just that the test of his growth will be how he deals with his first taste of adversity, as that's been his undoing in the past.

The only problem is the fact that once he's free, the deal comes down to the wages offered. Clubs who might want him will pay way more than we will, so what are our chances? And there is no point getting romantic about it, no matter how much of a nice, humble guy he is. Double the wage or more is double the wage or more.

Some Spurs fans are saying to me that they have heard Poch is after him. This makes me want him even more.

I'd say Elia staying is 100% linked to whether Koeman stays.
