You looked good first half. Although I do think we were suffering a bit of a hangover from midweek. If you had taken one of your chances and gone in ahead at HT it could have been different. Second half we changed system and Downing started controlling the game once moved to the middle. You will be ok once you get those injured players back though. Good luck for the rest if the season.
He has previous with mismanaging injuries here with us. Aluko, Brady to name but two. Threw Fryatt into the mix at the end of our promo season when he was anything close to ready, although no long term harm was done that time. Aluko thrown back in today weeks ahead of schedule, possibly through necessity. I just think steve Bruce thinks of himself as some sort of God like individual.
That is exactly what he does. When it comes unstuck and the player is out for even longer, he blames injuries. He did it here with Brown, Cattermole and Fletcher. edit : and Bardsley.
Nothing to do with Man U. Players picking up injuries is part and parcel of the game. The point here is whether Bruce makes things worse.
I don't think either of the injuries today can be linked to Bruce i am pretty certain Chester's dislocated shoulder was nothing to do with him neither was Bruce's thigh strain. Neither was Jelavic's knee injury or Hernandez groin strain.
Aye, popping your shoulder out is freak a injury. You just don't know with the others but injury crisis' do follow him from club to club.
It was. I stand corrected. That`s fair enough mate. You`ll know better with your squad but with us it seemed that players were brought back too soon, got crocked and were out again. Just an observation not an argument. Something to watch perhaps.
Oh well, a good first half and a predictable second half - injuries galore! It is so very difficult to judge players at the moment as they are cobbling together a team from the scraps of the squad and they are giving us body and soul - I for one appreciate that! Aluko has no end product but his movement and control was excellent; I can't help but think he is getting his game together and simply needs a fit striker(s) to link-up with. I was baffled by the team choice but it has got so desperate that I can't criticise SB as I am sure there are reasons beyond our ken. We have two more injuries that, once again, have been picked up during play - let's stop overplaying this 'Bruce's methods at fault' malarkey - I think we might pin one or two on him (for his own reasons), but it seems to be the new bandwagon and its bollocks. We picked up injuries today because hugely committed players are putting their bodies on the line for our cause - get behind them!! Sadly, McGregor, the one player not directly effected by all of the injuries, dropped a real clanger again, it was dreadful goalkeeping. Put it behind us and move on. UTT Looking at the low pain reaction from Chester I would think he is nearer to 6 weeks than 6 months - hopefully.
My instinct tells me we are going to get relegated with Bruce. We will be inconsistent right to the end and come short mainly because the likes of palace, sunderland and west brom will grind better results. I like Bruce but he is going to get us relegated.
You're getting boringly repetitious, Funky; you seem to care more about Bruce and us than you do about the Mackems - todays injuries were very clearly due to player commitment in-play. By the way, do you recall what I said about it being fine getting a decent goal-scorer, but you've got to close the back door? Let's see how it all pans out.
As trick said you played well enough first half, but once we changed system your inuries meant you couldn't. This is when managers prove their mettle, we had the worst injury list I can remember us having, this time last years I don;t think we had a fit CB, before that we had no midfield and before that no strikers (we played for a month without one). Coupled to that we had Morrison and Diame constantly whining. You aren't as badly off as we were, but, tbh, if you got rid of Bruce you would still have the injuries. touch wood we havn't had anything similar this season, possibly because we sacked our medical staff. They didn't move to Hull did they? good luck for the rest of the season
Hernandez is a injury waiting to happen. Jela never been right after his knee. Bruce is always injured some how. Cannot remember a ge where he hasn't come off with a knock.
