Don't hold you breath,it ain't going to happen. We get some civilised Moslems from westernised middle class families, generally the doctors and consultants who do great work for the NHS and these people are fine. The problem ones come from the rural ****holes (Think Norfolk farm jostler plus belief in fairies) The bastards like hookhands and Choudary are vultures picking over their carcasses. It grieves me to say it but those from backgrounds like that are never going to be integrated. The system exploits them too. It suits Cameron's pals to have a pool of cheap tractable labour that they can use to do crap jobs to earn the money the crazy Bling Jockeys need to buy their tasteless white Range Rovers and keep their polished turd wives in the style they are accustomed to. POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!!! lol (Remember Foxy?) Spazoid: The jury is still out.
I have had lots of muslim mates that just act the same as everyone else after they leave home but have been in awkward situations where the wife has to sit in the bedroom when the boys come round for a smoke a few beers and a Xbox Pes football session because she is not allowed to mix with blokes.
Yes. Interpretation of Islam on apostasy. It says you can interpret either way. You said it is a flat rule. Not all Muslims, or branches of Islam subscribe to that.
They do quite well out of system too. One of the main problems in this country is the human rights bill and the European court of Human rights, this is why you have all this **** which is happening on the continent and thousands of European citizens going off to Syria, in my opinion once you make that choice to go around Syria murdering and beheading people you instantaneously lose your rights as a citizen. The government need to grow a pair and draft up a bill.
When I went to the Maldives for a honeymoon, I did not realise before going there, that it was predominantly Muslim, not that it made any difference to the holiday. However, all the footpaths and beaches were kept clean by a gang of Muslim ladies, who were not allowed to look at visitors, or engage with them in any way whatsoever. To me, that is just fundamentally wrong.
With respect, CT, describing him as a "radical atheist" is pretty much what I've been doing, so it sounds like you're somewhat agreeing with me! I'm certainly not saying give equal weight. I'm just saying the opposite of religious is being agnostic - I.e. not being certain. Grades of certainty are the same as grades of religious fervent.
After living in Newham for 6 years I have seen what it's like as a White British minority and although I have not had any problems with the mainly Muslim black and E European Inhabitants the crime rate is the worst in the UK .
I was thinking the very same, some hours after posting that. If they do, and it is very possible I guess, it must be the only concession (or one of very few) they have been granted. That said, if they work in certain food processing plants, their headgear is likely to conflict with hygiene standards, so not sure what happens under such circumstances. Wonder how they dress on construction sites? Those turbans don't offer much protection from a falling brick do they
All my question answered in one sentence in the Equality and Human Rights Commission Guidance book Turban As mentioned earlier, the law recognises that the turban provides head protection. The Employment Act 1989 exempts a turban-wearing Sikh from any requirement to wear a safety helmet on a construction site. (Still find that hard to believe) Sikhs are also exempt from wearing a crash helmet on a motorcycle or a riding hat when horse-riding, if wearing a turban.
Apparently, providing the turban is clean, is is suitable to wear in a meat packing plant for example.
Not sure how much help a turban would be if the rider slammed into the side of a car at 70 mph on a 1100 Kawasaki Ninja.
Rob,I would not just describe him as a Radical Atheist, but myself too. (Douglas Adams coined the term btw about himself)
Nah, it's fine, as they would go directly to their paradise. Which kind of shows just how ludicrous such concessions are (in the name of religion - you know, the thing that has no provable evidence to support it's claims)
I recall someone telling me that he was in a taxicab going to the airport in a Moslem country and the driver shot a crossroads without stopping, explaining that Allah would look after him. I cant help0 thinking you can take being devout too far.
