Brown did it by radiating confidence to the players. It couldn't last. Bruce knows the game inside out.
Well, apart from McGreg's howler, it was the injuries which meant the defence was rearranged three or four times in the game. We really are now down to the bare bones of the squad. There are now 13 days before the Newcastle game, so Bruce needs to bring in a definite striker and a degree of quality in one two other areas. If he can get one on loan, great, but if the club is seriously interested in staying in the Premiership, £4m for a striker may be what they will have pay to have a better chance of not going down.
The injuries are killing us, Bruce deserves no criticism at all. Aluko needs a goal but what can Bruce do, he can't go on the pitch and do the finishing for him. I think we might go down because of bad luck and injuries but we need to keep the manager
we passed very well in this game! SB has clearly worked with the team on the basics. now he just has to work on us sticking the ball inthe back of the net/
I would keep Bruce if we go down, he knows the Championship inside out. Plus who else is there Stuart Pearce
two injuries to defenders and yet another almighty f**k up by McGrgegor cost us that game, that and the inability of Aluko to put his foot through it when in at goal, first half given our injury crisis I thought we did well, and in fact should have been at least one goal to the good. The loss of Chester and then Bruce disrupted the defence and that`s when gaps started occurring, those people yet again coming out with knee jerk reactions should just calm the f**k down, true we need a break with the injuries, but given the way they gave it a go in the first half I`m still optimistic given what was available to us.
I don't think it's a coincidence 12 of our 19 points have come when either Jelavic or Hernandez have been on the pitch.
He also added "Sagbo is trying to add some beef to the Hull team.." Pleat isn't a vegetarian for sure..
Yes. We have 13 days off, hopefully a few players will recover. Newcastle at home is winnable - we have a good record vs them & some of the other teams have tough games. It's going to be very hard but there's no point being defeatist
When Bruce was in charge we were always crippled by injuries. I remember he took responsibly for injuries to three players in one game as Wigan boss for his mismanagement. It's got to be in his training techniques and his rehabilitation timing. Injury problems follow him like a bad smell, there's no smoke without fire. It's beyond a coincidence. It could be he's got players with knocks or in rehabilitation doing ball work too close to the next fixture.
Not so sure about that. At Sunderland we had a lot of injuries during Bruces tenure. The consensus of opinion is that he was trying too hard get them fit and/or bringing them back when they weren`t fully fit, turning short term injuries into long term problems. Now you have a lot of injuries. I don`t know what his injury record is like at his previous clubs but there does seem to be a pattern emerging. Just an observation. edit : beat me to it funky.
You may have a point re the rehab schedules & training I wonder if he's too old school and doesn't employ the sports science effectively.
I'm pissed off with that 2nd half display but all is not lost yet. Long way to go yet, still very tight. Heads up ffs!
