The reason for that is the respective expectation levels.

Our managers become under pressure for not delivering at a top level as expected.

Everton managers tend to overachieve on the low expectations of the club, and when they struggle its pretty much deemed as 'normal' and 'acceptable' for the club - hence they stay put.

If you don't get top 4 after spending 100+ million do you think that meets expectations and Rodgers will stay?

The expectation is driven by the budget available and Rodgers has had over £200m so it should be a given that you're challenging at the top end of the table.

You've been suckered by his attempts to dumb down that expectation if you can't see that

Wouldn't meet expectation levels and whether he's under pressure would depend on how close we are to that goal and whether we look like improving next year.

    He would face criticism though.

Second half of the season is huge for Rodgers - we either finish well and its seen as a transition period for the considerable number of new, young players we've bought in - or a total balls up and missed opportunity.

Its starting to look like the former now where as it looked the latter a month back.

I dont think it will come down to just 'finish top 4 or be sacked' to be honest.

Always going to be a difficult one for us this year and we seem to be putting things together

I wouldn't disagree with that and I'm generally one of the most critical Liverpool fans on here I would say.

I've been pretty scathing but lets just see where the season takes us and review a the end.

There are clear signs of improvement be it against teams we should be beating.

We have the likes of West Ham, yourselves, Spurs, Southampton and City in our next 5 games so that optimism could quite quickly evaporate, or it would prove we've turned a corner and are really up for it.

    We'll see.

Where you reckon you will finish? I can see you coming home in about 8th.

I think you've flattered to deceive tbh. You've got results of late but the performances have been largely ****, a win's a win and all that, but I think you're not far away from a reality check

As for us, I think 8th is probably as good as it can get given where we currently are. Unless we win the EL it'll have been a very disappointing season

8th would be a great result, 9th is more realistic IMO

Yeah my pessimistic side thinks along the same lines as what you've said, but I'm just going to wait and see and not get carried away by a good run.

We have stopped conceding as many though which does help as we have tended to concede against anyone and everyone previous so it would appear genuine improvement in that sense, and we may have stumbled on a better formation for us.

Your season as been as strange one. You've not freshened up the squad enough imo, where as I could argue we've brought too many players in.

Teams have actually given you a bit more respect after last year and are finding ways to get a result.

I like Martinez but Fat Sam's comment about him being inflexible in his tactics would appear accurate.

Yeh I agree with the above the next half dozen are big for you guys...

I think we will finish 8-10th this season we have bombed big style .Martinez should have reacted more quickly and seen we had to do more than pass sideways and backwards on the halfway line..

    Goes without saying very disappointing..

    Unforeseen I would say too.

    I wasn't expecting that much of a dip. I thought we'd be 4th to 6th and you guys 6th-8th.

    Were you guys?

We were slow, predictable and ineffective until the WHU game the other week.

Teams had sussed us put and knew how to nullify our threat and put us under pressure. We'd become slow and players were hiding from the ball due to lack of confidence. We've turned a corner though imo and I'm much more positive than I was at the turn of the year.

Big summer for us coming up, it'll define our next 3-5 years as our squad will undergo massive surgery
