But beating Arsenal and Man Utd doesn't count because they weren't above us at the time![]()
Chelsea are absolute rubbish. When was the last time they beat a team above them? It's easy when you only play teams below you! LOL.

There you go, doing it again. Undertones of making Monk out to be an incompetent chump. "Monkenomics" being another example. If that's your view, then fine, you're perfectly entitled to it, but the sniping at the manager followed by smileys as if it's all a great joke is giving out mixed messages which rub a lot of people up the wrong way. Maybe you don't recognise it, or just enjoy doing it.
You're a unique character on here Vetch, and I always enjoy what you have to say and the way you write it. You can also be quite intimidating when you're dishing it out with both barrels, but you seem to take offence when some take you to task over your style (some might say agenda).
Am I going to get both barrels??

What makes it "realistic",I wonder?
The points accrued to date, whilst very welcome, have I feel, created a false impression. The points gained against Utd.were extremely fortunate, and Burnley deserved something on their Liberty appearance.
Realsitically,I think we are in a false position, and I will get a lot of flak from the usual suspects for holding this deeply unpleasant point of view.
But,hey,I'm not one of the posters who have now started attacking Monk and his style of play.
I simply sit back and watch it take place, smug in the knowledge that I knew it was coming.
A defeat at Southampton in the next match will see a further eroding of Monk's status on here.
Do you think it realistic for us to finish in the top 6 then Vetch?

Why should it. After Southampton we would have played Chelsea, WHU and Southampton (away) and picked up 1 point without Bony (sold now obviously), Ki, Montero, Jonjo, Leon (yesterday). I was only expecting 1 point from these three games. It's the games after Southampton we will be targeting as wins etc.
Do you think it realistic for us to finish in the top 6 then Vetch?

without Bony, definitely no.
This is what happened to Laudrup

We wouldn't finish top 6 with Bony anyway. We are more than half way through the season and have never been outside the top nine and are either 8-9 points better off than this time last season. Yet, you'd think we're in a relegation scrap given some comments on here. Yes we are going through a difficult patch atm, but it was always going to be a difficult period after the Xmas schedule in that we had to play WHU, Chelsea and Southampton on the back of losing Bony, Ki, Jonjo being a prat, Montero and Leon yesterday.
When Ki, Montero and Leon return we will then be back on track. Atm it seems to me that one or two are revelling in the difficulties that Monk is facing atm.

"Monkenomics" was a ribald comment...

Why can't Laudrup be mentioned?
Having said that I can't understand the fixation on him here that I've seen since joining. I thought Laudrup was our best Manager ever but I know many of my friends don't agree with me. Hated the way he was sacked too. Not good. But I still find the level of interest in him here curious. I haven't checked but is the Stoke board still awash with comments about Pulis?
It's all a bit weird.
See, that's why I like your posts...you use words like "ribald". I'm off to find the dictionary....![]()

Same thing under Sousa - same player involved both times too!But there was also a split camp under ML and previous results were only showing a downward trend.
Laudrup is "history" isn't he?
Laudrup's football "history" makes him more interesting than most,if not ALL, modern player's.
He is also a highly articulate and intelligent person,a successful businessman, and much admired on the world stage.
Pulis cannot be compared to Laudrup on ANY level,so your "Stoke board" comment is quite bewildering.

Why not? He is a very good manager.
