All three were penalties for me. So yes, we've had a sprinkle of luck going on the importance at the time in those games. I think you're being slightly "red-tinted".
One of the big points is that all of the perceived injustices against us listed above would not have impacted the result of the games (Newcastle home/Everton/United). Those against our opponents all would have done. (Chelsea/Newcastle away) So yes, I'll take that bad:good luck ratio as it is please!
Not only that but the timing of the substitutions was spot on. Cork didn't have too many opportunities to demonstrate his strengths as it was 'backs to the wall' by the time he came on. But he was still able to get Clyne in behind the full back for the only time in the game.
When I first saw their goal I wondered if Gardos thought it was a back pass. Fonte got a foot to it. Was it a pass? I did not think so but maybe Gardos decided not to take a chance. An indirect from that position would have been a likely goal.
Just watching WH and Hull and already a handball/penalty shout. The commentator said no because Noble's arm wasn't in an 'unnatural' position and that it was tucked in to his body. If you are running or turning then arms tucked into body is actually a very unnatural position. Players are very deliberately trying to bring there arms into their body. What Fonte did yesterday, by contrast, was a very natural movement of the arm. Just try turning your body in the way he was doing. Unless you are forcing it, your arm just goes where Fonte's was. Besides which, he'd have to have very unnatural reactions if it was deliberate. They are normally given, of course, but as someone above said, seemingly less so this season.
It may just be that having a manager who doesn't complain about referees week in week out is going to influence a referee in a 50/50 decision and Mourinhos whinging / mind games are actually hurting his side.
Cheers Chilco. First time I will be able to sit down and watch the whole thing. EDIT: Looks like they are still processing the videos, or are they working for everyone else at this time..?
Absolutely; if it's CL, we'll at least be able to add to the squad and allow some rotation. If it's Europa, well...
I've said before elsewhere that we should, if we end up there, deal with Europa as an U21 tournament. Great experience for the kids and one more reason for youngsters to join our academy. Vin
Whilst it might represent an opportunity for some of the youngsters (it gave Harry Kane his chance at Spurs), you need still a nucleus of experience in a competition like that.
