Ilooked very good Mex - have to assume thete is improvement to come so I am very excited. And for those who care, my 8 year old niece said Troy was our best player and the 11 year old absolutely loves Paredes. I struggle to name a Motm but would probably go with the majority on Ighalo. Thpugh I did love Layun and Paredes. If this all works then...
Thanks, I rate the liga MX sort of Champ, League 1, however, he was a stand out player, let´s hope he can adapt. He is a very, very versatile player.
Also, I have just seen all the Watford highlights here, on tele, FOX mx, so wierd to see our goals before other media. Mexico is following Layun - he is like a, how to put it, a small scale Beckham (that is the best I compare for now, in terms of celeb) Good goals, great free-kick mind, thanks for the vid OFH.
Layun was a yard and a half quicker in the head than anyone on the pitch. Always showing for the ball, some superb passes and vision. The pecking order on free-kicks will be interesting. Settling in nicely on today's evidence. Yesterday's evidence!
I agree. "Jokanovic out" one week, then "Slavisa's the Man!" the next! Can we all try to be more consistent?
Just bought my tickets for next week. More of the same please as my last two matches have been Hudd last match of last season (awful) and Brighton this season (strange).
Well. After a really unpleasant week being pretty unwell, this Hornets performance comes just as I start to feel a bit better myself. Deeply chuffed and looking forward to seeing some of it. Great to hear such positive comments about the atmosphere in the ground, the difference the 4th side and 1881 have made. Good attendance too - Pozzos should be pleased. I think I might up my confidence rating again and then rekindle thoughts about my second trip to see the boys in two years at W*****y. Shhh! I didn't say that
I think you will find Rugby is more trying. Sorry to hear that Gordon . Hope you are better now. Also you had a good prediction week and jumped up a couple of places so that may cheer you up a little too
Sorry to hear you have not been well GG, hope the improvement in health continues. Great performance yesterday, particularly the way we fed and supported the strikers from midfield, very exciting football. Layun is clearly a very high quality footballer, a couple of missed passes, but you could exactly what his thinking was in making those passes, with more hours on the training ground and match time, his interaction with the rest of the team will be sublime! Great atmosphere in The Rookery yesterday and respect to the Charlton fans who stayed until the end - I think it was a bit of a demonstration at the front. Let's hope for a repeat against Blackpool - COYH
I know exactly how those fans were feeling - been there, done that a few times - 5-0 at Carlisle, at Portsmouth, at Blackpool, at Sunderland, at Coventry, at Wimbledon and a few more lost to memory. Gallows humour abounding........
My MOM was Toszer - not for the goal, although it was a joy. When Pudil came on, our midfield was mostly Toszer on his own. Charlton were pretty poor in failing to exploit this, but he really ran the show. Layun & Paredes were very effective, esp as Layun allowed Paredes to go forward, and Pudil Anya the same - but all of them mostly pretty wide. So Toszer had to mop up everywhere. Perhaps the significant number of balls over the top was acknowledgement of that, or possibly he Charlton's defence didn't like being turned. anyway, I though the tactics were spot on. Result well earned and deserved. Layun certainly happier than at 'Uddersfield. Still a little lightweight, but he managed to avoid it being a problem usually.I'm looking forward to Layun's first goal. think they know now that each week is more important. COYH
It was a great team effort, something we haven't seen for a while. There were good performances from players i don't usually praise too highly, Anya had a good game and Toszer probably had his best in a Watford shirt. Ighalo was MOM for me and i cannot understand why he gets subbed, Vydra should sub for Deeney, who missed a couple of good chances and didn't do much for a fair amount of the time. He is off his game, surely a captain isn't undroppable!? I loved watching Layun, what a great player, and he definitely had great communication with Peredes who had his best game for a while. A great performance..definitely encouraging, and buoyed i think but Joka's words in the week so well done to the manager. Now all we have to do is get some consistancy and there'll be no stopping us! (i'm sure i said that in October )
A joy to watch...for the first hour at any rate, a bit too much keeping possession to be exciting after that. Top marks to Paredes (outstanding in the first half), Angella (commanding throughout), Layun (taking control of an admittedly often spaceous midfield), and Ighalo (excellent running lovely touch and building a great understanding with Deeney). Nice to see George Byers come on and get stuck in. Interesting to see harmony on the field, something we need to foster when things aren't going so well.
A very good performance , from every individual and as a team effort. Layun filled the Abdi role very well, Parades ran purposefully, Ighalo was immense, and the defence looked assured (centreback turned once or twice , but Gomes saved the day.) O.K. so Charlton let us play while some other teams have nullified our midfield, but gosh, when we get the space to play we are very good. The list of injuries is a bit worrying but maybe that will not matter too much against Blackpool (no disrespect).
