The Chariot has arrived back safely at 22:44; 9H-AHA Boeing 737 makes another 3 point landing, it has been very lucky for us.
Be nice for the team to have a week before the next match. I expect they will get a day off first of course.
Occasionally, I see a representation of data that reveals so much that I'm astounded. That's one of them. I've always known that the bottom of the league is crowded but I've never really felt it before. Terrific. Vin
I cannot even work out how they think that of Ronald...unless it is the incident where he didn't shake hands with Sheffield United's manager....and he said afterwards that SU deserved to win but they gave him and the officials no respect. Their manager and club were later fined by the FA.
Not a penalty the more I see it. It was belted at him and there was no intent. I thought they were trying to cut down on these unintentional handball penalties due to a lot of moaning and now pundits seem to moan when they are not given.
That penalty call looks more valid now I have seen it again....I can only suppose it was the speed and close proximity that decided it in our favour. I do wonder if they would have got it if it was in the first 5 mins rather after 90 mins. Fonte has had 3 escapes this season that I can remember, but on the other hand our players have been mishandled in the area several times.
So many similar situations happened to us in the last two seasons and we rarely ever got a penalty, so I really couldn't care less. Penalty for handball is lottery, really, sometimes they give them, sometimes they don't.
That's funny when you consider I feel differently. Just shows how hard it is to make a decision in real time and how hard it would be even if you looked at video evidence.
Slow motion does the player who handballed it no favours. It was a valid claim, but not a stonewall penalty. We couldn't really have complained had it been given.
Coloccini did almost exactly as Fonte a few games ago (can't remember who against) and no pen was given, so I suppose you could say the luck has evened out there.
I'm sure at the start of the season the refs decided it had to be obviously intentional to give a penalty and this season there has been a lot less given. I may be wrong but I'm sure I heard Riley or whoever the head ref say on sky sports
If you think about it...there is no way that Fonte would feel he needed to handball so far from goal. He was careless because it could have been given. We have been getting the rub of the green this season...to make up for years of not getting decisions. As I've said Les Reed has sold his soul to the devil and we are reaping the benefits...expect 3 penalty decisions to be awarded to Saints in the game against Man City last game of the season.
The handball obviously falls into the 'seen them given' category. He shouldn't have raised his hands and made the referee make a decision. The ball wasn't going in. On replay he genuinely looked like he thought the ball was going to drill him in the face and was waiting for it to happen. Newcastle didn't deserve a penalty for that and certainly didn't deserve anything from the game. We got two proper goals. They scored from a fluke.
