Even the goals were far from perfect, deflection and in off the post, we're struggling for goodness sake. We won't make top four like this, our rivals are looking far more solid.

Why is a shot going in off the post bad? Eriksen's placement was perfect. Absolutely unstoppable.

If we hadn't had that 'stroke of luck' in the third minute the rest of the game would have taken a different path. Sunderland would have had use of the ball in the goal area instead of the halfway line and the game would have been changed We may have won by more or we may have lost. Substitutions may have been different. Lets stop complaining. When other teams play badly and win we say that is what is needed to be at the top. When we do it too many fans moan.

How does Foy not realise that his linesman's wrong? So, so bad. Primarily the "assistant"'s fault, of course.

Because going in off the post is luck isn't it? If a ball hits the post it can go anywhere. I can't believe he placed that to hit the post and go in, no come off it.

It's not luck. The ball went in from a shot that was hit on target.
Vertonghen's was lucky. Eriksen's was quality.

Well he's doing it often enough, isn't he? Kane's the same. Loads of shots around that area of the goal.

Absolutely agree. We were the better team. Could easily have scored more and have recovered well from the defeat at Palace. We can't be brilliant every game, sometimes we have to settle for a win even if the performance is not what we would have hoped. We shouldn't be moaning. On the fringe of the top 4, semi finals of the league cup, last 32 of the Europa, home tie in the 4th round of the FA Cup. A few academy prospects coming good. Where did it all go wrong?....

as someone has mentioned.....what did we do to Chelsea at the lane?

If anything this shows or should show that we don't give up....results like last week can happen...but we don't give up.

If's and but's don't count. If we had not scored a 'lucky' goal in the 2nd minute you say TMT? What if they didn't get a free kick?

What if the linesman had eyes? Would have been 3 nil to us.

The stadium announcer gave it as 88 minutes 52 seconds.

Nah, he'd be off if he was in their half. Keeper was behind him and there needs to be two players there.

Given the heavy schedule we currently have and with a big game coming up this midweek, then the result today was more important than the performance. Personally, I thought we were the better side throughout and deserved the win, although I accept you might not see it that way. Sunderland were time wasting from almost the first minute and in the end it caught up with them. 2-1 to us was a perfectly reasonable score line.

    Which is the 89th minute.

How strange that Spurs keep playing patchily, but have had the self-assurance and nerve to create and take late chances to win games when you've been renowned in the past for doing the opposite. It doesn't matter how you win. The history books just record the win.
