Looking at the league table still only a 4 point gap to Palace in 12th place who won today, then another 4 point gap to Newcastle on 27 pts who play later.

Lots of positives today. Isla and Henry were excellent, Barton played much better than he has done recently.
I am nowhere near as pissed off as I usually am after a defeat.
All the other games went our way, apart from Palace's late winner, but then again, it might turn out to be good.

I think we might have the worst of both worlds - it was a good enough performance that he might persist but we have no points benefit from it.

true there last goal wad only because we was pressing going for it so some may see it as a 1-0 loss to man u , but they are flaky low in confidence ,,, ,, **** it we can sit here picking performances apart but at the end if the day we shouldn't have drew with Swansea and lost to Burnley for me that said it all

So we are happy with a middling 2 nil loss to a team Leicester beat?

    The games a foot!

Do you expect a team like MU not to create chances?

I'm just not excited at the prospect of Sherwood. If he's appointed then I'd like nothing better than to be wrong, but gut says average at best.

Have a look at his post match interview...I've put it in a new thread. starting by saying he's pleased seems wrong to me after losing.

I'd take him on loan for the remainder of the season, Soops. He always seems to play well for his first 4-6 months with a new club before reverting to type.

Plus point...we're not first on MOTD (haven't actually checked) so I can watch the brilliant Spirral on BBC 4 without having to miss the last 20 minutes as it overlaps with the footie.....

I enjoyed today, good company with Stainesy and his crew at the C & S, and the usual mob at the ground. The team tried very hard against a Utd team which has quality but is struggling to show it. They had the vast majority of possession, and more of the good chances. Van Gaal got it right - they played our game (in the air) first half and it got them nowhere, more on the ground second half and took their chance. We missed Dunne second half too. Henry did his job yet again, even Barton was better, less profligate. Adel's cameo was nice to see.

Most worrying thing for me was Austin. I hadn't realised how short of pace he is, which means he shoots as soon as he can (two good efforts first half) and today he was slow to get into the box on the rare ocassions we got up there. He was also waving his arms around in frustration a lot when he didn't get the ball on a plate (what does he expect in this team?)....beginning to believe his own hype?

Frankly, any team playing Clint at left back, a man who himself said TWO YEARS AGO that he couldn't play there in the Prem is on borrowed time. I don't expect us to survive, but would like to see some fight and dignity, it doesn't feel quite as bad as the shambles last time.

Did anyone hear Redknapp on 5 Live? For a change he was trying to be positive about our team rather than bigging up the other one (albeit by referring to players - Henry, Dunne - 'I got on a free'). But the strange thing it was all in quite a high pitched whiny tone, very odd. He denied he was feeling the pressure (as you would expect), but I think he's on the edge in his own head. Wants 'a striker with pace' on loan.
