We have been swept away like a League 2 team, that's what concerned me today and while this is a good Chelsea side, the difference should not be this big, and has not been up till this moment, Monk will be under the magnifying glass after this inept team sheet, formation and strategy, playing 4-4-2 is madness........................<ok>

Southampton are all over Newcastle and 1-0 up, that might save us from dropping down the table.

I thought Siggy was DM and Oliviera was AM in behind Gomis? Either way I think Monk tried to be clever and fell on his face. Doesn't help when his players give goals away so cheaply though.

I've had a feeling for some time that we've been a bit lucky with giving the ball away and not being more careful in possession and thought to myself what would have happened if we'd have done that against better opposition? I think today I got my answer.

It must have escaped your attention, but we have been "dropping down the table" for some time, albeit slowly.
Bottom half beckons, and then Laudrup will be much mourned. <laugh>

Too late to cry over him though isn't it, and what good does that do anyone? It's our current manager's strange decisions and where we go from here I'm more worried about, not the past.

No crying over The Great Dane, better shed some tears for his seemingly clueless replacement.

that was shocking, yes Chelsea were superb in the 1st half (has anyone seen a better performance against us?) but we looked totally lost and our defensive/midfield composure on the ball was abject.Monk made a total balls up with his selection but lets keep it in perspective, hes done a good job so far and we need to reassess him after his first full season in charge. one thing that is now blatant obvious is that we need to spend some of that money on a quality right back and defensive midfielder. one positive note- Emnes when he came on gave us something else but overall we better right that off and go again.

Not too worried, it was Chelsea not a West Brom or a Stoke

Not for the first time. We were 3 - 0 down when I picked up the game and couldn't believe it until I saw the team, and then it was perfectly clear.
Carroll and Leon were great against WHU - split up because Monk hasn't got the bottle to make difficult decisions and drop / rest his name players.
Tiendalli, because of an enthusiastic performance against a poor League 2 side, in ahead of Rangel (experience) and Jazz (quality) and alongside Fernandez with an experimental pairing of Siggy and Carroll ahead of them. Taylor made to look good by comparison but still awful.
That lineup screamed, 'Come on Chelsea, see how many you can score' and they did.
The commentary I got on my stream was in Swedish and they were laughing at Swansea City, and they were right.
When Fulton came on I went out and kicked some dents out of the car.

I'm not going to have a go at Le Sulk II as he didn't have a hope in hell playing in front of that shower of ****.

Chelsea today gave the best away performance from an away team since we've been in the PL imo. but that doesn't excuse the lack of concentration , desire or willingness to take a player on or to the complete naivety by the manager to think we could match them in the formation he picked , the only reason we didn't concede more than 1 goal in the second half was Chelsea were cruising .If the scoreline had been 7 or 8 then that wouldn't have flattered them .Too many individual errors compounded by poor management contributed to our downfall and the only players to take any credit from today were Carroll and Oliveria although the latter didn't seem to enjoy the physical aspect of the game today but he was awilling worker and one of very few who wanted the ball today .We've played poorly for a while now and rode our luck but today we were exposed .8 million for Fed bring back Amat and quickly I say .

Remember guys we were playing the No1 team in the land where the gulf is so big we never had a chance. 90% of the other teams would have been in the same boat the way chelsea played and i doubt very much that even man city would have beaten chelsea today...Lets have some realism here...Chelsea were awesome from start to finish and i congratulate them on some of the best football ever witnessed at the liberty...

Still doesn't excuse the inept display shown by the team and management.

Comprehensively outclassed by one of the top 4 teams in Europe, aided by some kamikaze personal errors.

The only consolation is that, mercifully, we won't see them again this season.

Dyer and Routledge awful yet again. Terrible decision to play Gylfi at DM. Unfortunate that Britton was injured though. Oliveira struggled to hold the ball up but this isn't the game to judge him. Gomis was given nothing to work off. Tiendalli and Taylor had a struggle all game and were consistently put under pressure by our inept 'pass back' wingers. Taylor was given relief when Emnes came on and actually had a go. Fernandez and Williams had stinkers. In 25 minutes, Fulton gave the ball away as much as Carroll did in the whole match.

Most importantly, Monk was clueless all game. Firstly, his team sheet. Secondly, his substitutions... Oli for Fulton did nothing for us, and leaving Ash on when he couldn't even lift his arm was one of the worst managerial decisions I've seen in my time. The game was gone and he should have brought Ash off to prevent further damage, Everything was wrong about that performance. Bar a long shot from Gylfi, we offered absolutely nothing for the crowd to jump off their seats about.

Garry can talk about the 'individual errors' all he wants. He should be focusing on the fact that we were unable to manufacture a single real chance in 90 minutes of football in front of our own fans.

Regardless of my rant, I'm going to write this one off now and focus on the next league game. Perform the same way and Saints will put a similar score passed us.

Why am I not surprised by this comment? You just cannot wait for Monk to fail can you? well it was just one game and we move on, but get over Laudrop he's history, or go and join him and his Camel jockeys.
