I like Defoe and, in our current situation would have had him in a heartbeat; come the summer and pressure off he would not have been on my pick list. Let's see, when Hernandez gets a run with Jelavic (it's been very limited) what the end of season brings. By the way, we're okay on here, just as your mate says (later); but expect the odd kick in the bollocks, if only just for. . . . well, the hell of it.
I have no problem with this board or any poster anywhere on the internet. ****s and giggles. I think, like us, you have just enough quality to see you safe. In all honesty, I'd get rid of Bruce at the end of the season, he's been there a few years and it's about now it starts to go horribly wrong
If you look it properly he only started 5 of those games, 3 of which in 13/14 season when Soldado got of to a flyer scoring 6 in their first 10 games (Europa game included) I'll wait till he's had a few games before I can paint a picture
I'm not saying Defoe isn't a good player, I was just pointing out that the assumption that he'll score for fun is perhaps not quite so cut and dry. Starts or not, 1 in 19 is a poor record and those who criticise our front men rarely point out how many of their appearances were off the bench.
There seems to be a consensus among many when they hear the name Defoe that goals are a given. I suspect a lot of people weren't aware of the 1 goal in 19 stat. I rate Defoe but I'm almost certain he wouldn't have got the contract you've given him from a club in the summer.
Does there? You know consensus means general opinion and you opened with 'scoring for fun'. Never mind, doesn't really matter does it? please log in to view this image
eh what? we were touching on the topic of racism, stereotypical labelling, nick-naming.. I provided a view from across the channel.. et voila!
I agree with you on Defoe 'rose' but how good are 'our front men' when they have to come off the bench rather than getting a start. I am fast losing faith with Hernandez as (just my opinion) but a 10 million quid player should not be 'coming off the bench' and he should be able to put in a full 90 minute shift. He has shown a few 'deft' touches but to me he is a few noodles short of a stir-fry.
To the Mackems - How many shots did you have on target? What formation did you play? How come a fully fit Defoe couldn't score? Im not Wumming you, I just think you need more than just a Defoe to win you games, you, similar to us in fact, need a decent midfielder who can actually get the ball to the striker. Being replaced by Graham too...kinell thats gotta hurt.
Honestly Smug. 4-4-2 I believe now? How come you didn't have a dozen shots on goal? I'll hold my hands up to being a bit wummy with the Graham comment, but that is a ****ter, imagine being taken off on the basis he might add something else to the game!
Because Spurs are really good I suppose, just battered Chelsea at home. Graham might yet have a part to play in the squad, he isn't as bad as some people think.
No, he'll play against Fulham, in the FA Cup, and will be on the bench against Burnley. He can score at this level, it's just a case of how we set up and whether we're home or away. I've absolutely slated Graham but I've noticed a change in him over his last two appearances.
Eriksen must have scored nearly as many goals in the last 5 minutes as we've conceded in the first 15.
