As my heart slowly returns to a sensible BPM, with the points secure I'm glad we got a bit of a scare. You can't improve things if you can't see what the problems are, and that second half should have given Neil plenty of food for thought. I think an equaliser would have well and truly killed any thoughts of the autos, were Derby the only team anywhere near the playoffs not to win?
7 of the top 8 won their game today! The good news is that it should start to open a healthy gap to 9th place
I apologise guys Haven't seen the match as there was no stream but first and foremost it is a hugely important win! Sounds like lots of positives, certainly from the first half. Something to build on at least! Goals flowing at home, clearly some work on the defence is required but it is early days in Neil's reign. OTBC
Yeah, 6 point gap to 9th now, hopefully nobody in mid table can put a run together and put themselves in contention. Watford were the only team above us in shaky form, so their excellent result is disappointing.
Yep, a win is a win is a win. However I bet Neil will give them an absolute rollicking for that second half. Should give him a decent wake-up call that knocking these guys into a proper team won't be straightforward.
Sorry guys, could not resist after seeing this That'll be the Binners keeping their feet firmly on the ground! Are you looking HoppersBlue?
Just seen the highlights from that one, I think an U12's side could have beaten Millwall today. Utterly comical defending, Ipswich's third the only one where the attack deserve any kind of credit. Hard to admit things are looking good for them though. The pace at the top of this league is pretty phenomenal.
Positives = Lafferty finally scored as did Hooper & Jerome yet again forming a good partnership & most importantly Ruddy saved a pen to give us a slim advantage. Negatives= We rarely keep a clean sheet let in sloppy goals and concede a stupid amount of penalties 3 from our last 4 . After last week and 6 from 6 for Alex then hard to moan but we need to find a back 4 that can concentrate for 95 mins so the goals we keep scoring count. If we finished 3-3 that would have really been a disaster today with everyone else winning.
Yep. They really should make it from here. There's no doubt in my mind that McCarthy has done an incredible job with what he's got. And after two defeats on the bounce they could have crumbled. Anyway, we just need to focus on ourselves. This pace with all the top teams winning won't last. We just need to gradually eat away at the points ahead of us. We made this bed because we had a chance to put fresh air between us and the rest way back in October, now we just have to plug away and keep winning. The crunch points come, like with Derby, when these teams have to play each other. It sounds bad all of them winning all at the same time, but you know (I think I'm right on this one) we were playing the highest place team at the start of the day of all of them?
A result, certainly, with a lot of excellent attacking play, but the problems in defence are worrying. If Ruddy hadn't saved that penalty, a draw would have been a disaster. We'll have to see what Neil can do about it.
No I'm wrong... Forest were ahead of Cardiff at the start of the day on goal difference. But I think the point still stands, we had technically the hardest match other than Derby (who lost) and didn't lose any ground.
Lack of pace was exposed in the second half. All it took was one quick player and our defence was at 6's and 7's. This is why I wouldn't be against Bassong coming back in.
