Sky sports have confirmed that 3 of our fixtures have now being confirmed as televised. Our games AWAY to West Ham, Brighton and the Arsenal of the north are all on the big screen. Thats 5 games televised already, along with Southampton and Bradford. Thats 8 changed fixtures too. Cant see why were being televised against Brighton, we shouldnt even be playing a team that small. Love how Sky only televise us away from home against the big guns/games we cld lose, last season we faced Boro away, Swansea away and Donny. Your thoughts
That's because we're a much bigger club than West Ham, Donald. It's better to have the away games on TV than the home games.
Of course, it's just that Sky and the BBC will obviously be quite keen on them because of the 'big club got relegated' novelty factor. Well, not that much of a novelty in West Ham's case but you know what I mean. Obviously they know when they televize Leeds, it's going out to a nationwide, sometimes even international audience.
West Ham being a big club is a myth. London only really has one big club, and they get run down while the others get talked up.
http://www.roymorgan.com/news/press-releases/2006/490/ I imagine Spurs and Chelsea have even more fans now as their continued top-flight TV exposure continues in our absence. Edit: we do get more website hits than Spurs and Chelsea (link). Doesn't really make us a bigger club though.
Things may have changed in recent years, but our natural level is above Chelsea and Spurs. When we were competing on a level playing field, we consistently finished above them. And if you could determine a core fanbase, rather than fickle glory hunters, I'm sure we'd be above them in that list.
I think that suggests that we're a more expectant club; a club's size can only be fairly determined by how many supporters it has.
I would think Leeds has more genuine supporters rather than people who just mentioned a team that was doing well, in reply to a survey. If that survey was conducted now I'm sure Man City would get a lot more, Middlesbrough a lot less, and we'd be pretty much the same.
I'm waiting for someone to accuse me of not being a Leeds fan for arguing that we're the 4th biggest club in the country.
i dont think we are a bigger club than spurs or chelsea, i think its a bit up ourselves to think otherwise, i read that we have the 9th biggest fans within england and i would also say newcastle are on a similar size to leeds as well but cant think of any other club
