Lots of Memories 9/2 is better value. Achieved much more than Rule The World and VDF over fences so far. Is proven at grade one level. The other two aren't. I'm not betting in the race but if I was, I'd take 9/2 Lots of Memories.
Day of short prices tomorrow in the big races. Golden Doyen ran a stinker LTO but showed on previous form he is a good young hurdler and his form is closely tied in with Mick Jazz via Karezak but id much rather take the 5/2 on offer. Rule the World is top class and would expect him to win, odds on offer are a gift as previously mentioned. Sprinter Sacre no words needed we all know his ability and no matter how much i love Dodging Bullets he needs to improve at least a stone to win(although he has put in the highest RPR 2m performance so far this season). At slightly bigger prices, Mischevious Milly is closely tied to Glens Melody on last years form and pipe opener will have done her a massive turn. Gets 5lbs from Carole Spirit and should run her close. Niceonefrankie's Cheltenham form has been franked with Splash of Ginge winning comfrtably when looking like only horse who could have got near before falling. Up 7lbs but should put in another good performance.
Get on sprinter at 7/4 for the champion NRNB much better value than today, if he wins well he's 4/6 and if he doesn't sparkle he won't run and you get your money back
Colour Squadron looks a bet today, has class and is receiving 4lbs from Close Touch. Has plenty of formlines with a lot of good horses over past year without getting his head in front but he can prove his experience against Close Touch whos only having his 2nd run over fences.
Noticed this a few days ago, I did catch him that day against the Obrien hotpot but overall he never turned out as good as I thought he could be early on. Didnt strike me as the type for NH but you never know, change of scenery and all that, and as you say he could be different class. Carraig Mor looks the best of the shorties for me, hope Lots Of Memories wins but not interested in backing him today, got a feeling that Val De Ferbert might be the big danger to Rule The World but Wounded Warrior is no mug either and he looks the value in the race. Bookies giving evens Sprinter Sacre is enough to put me off, the mugs will be on thinking free money and good luck to them, he could win on the bridle but you want locking up piling into a horse who has had these problems for so long at evens, you aint getting rich and its not a bet id be interested in. At even money it has to be a serious bet on something you dont have any doubts about and I couldnt risk him, id be happy enough to lay him at those odds as a bookie today. Glens Melody at 9/4 is starting to seriously tempt me but seems to be big confidence behind this Kittens Rock.
If it's anything like Timeform ratings they tend to keep to the highest rating. Eg the Timeform rating for SS is 192+ but in his last 2 completed races he achieved ratings of 184+ and 176+ (presumably because that's all he needed to achieve to win those races)
Afternoon all.Been given the nod for Russian Bill in the 2.30 at Naas(9/4) & also fancy Niceonefrankie(5s) in the 3.25 at Ascot.I have a poxy accounting exam so will miss all the action todayLets hope Sprinter is back to his best and puts on a bold show!
The Clarence House seems to me a race to watch rather than bet on, but a couple of general observations: 1) weren't the same kind of opinions, in the same general terms, on offer a year ago before Big Buck's ran in the Cleeve Hurdle ? (Light-years better than the opposition, they wouldn't run him if he wasn't near his best, and so on). BB duly ran, around even money, and looked pretty much his old self until he stopped after the last. Then, to many people's surprise, he turned up at the World Hurdle at a not-very-generous 7/2 and got stuffed. 2) if he wins 'workmanlike' today and you've had a contingency NRNB bet on him for the QMCC, you've still got to factor in the possible presence of a fit Sire De Grugy, and I'm not convinced that 7/4 is that much of a gift. I know SS is barely a 9yo, and maybe the best is still to come but, until you see him come out and do the business, they never come back is a very sound betting principle. Unless, of course, you take the perverse view that Henderson is a better trainer than Nicholls.
Here's hoping Sprinter Sacre wins comfortably in the Clarence House, and more importantly returns home as good as ever.
Afternoon all!! Bit of fun with a Yankee for me... BITOFAPUZZLE 4/1 SHANGANI 13/2 NEW YEARS EVE 13/2 NICEONEFRANKIE 5/1 Would love to see Sprinter back to his best today but no bet for me. Good luck all!!
Cracking finish at Ascot - not sure that Touchy won't be getting a holiday though Fingers crossed that my £1 is safe on TNO next up
