As Palace and WBA are also both interested in Gestede, the above scenario is highly unlikely. What Blackburn paid for him is irrelevant - they signed a non scoring centre forward. They currently have a centre forward joint 4th in the Championship leading scorer charts. He has scored 3 goals more than Deeney and Rhodes - who have both been valued at £10m plus. If Gestede has been valued at £4m, then that is still incredibly good value.
I'm a GK myself so pay special attention to our keepers. Most of your criticisms of him are completely wrong. He's a fantastic reactions keeper and controls his box well. His decisions on whether to come and claim the ball or stay on his line are almost 100%. My main criticism of him is his ability to reach the corners, even when given time such as at free-kicks, he is pretty poor at it and we've conceded a few goals from free kicks, even if they were scored by world class players. He's no more error prone than any other good keeper in the league. Some people just need to understand that alll players make mistakes, even goalkeepers.
Yet again you have proved yourself to have no knowledge or understanding of the game of football or any individual players. What you have written here is utterly ridiculous
That would be a fair comparison, except for the fact that he's only done it for the last year and his ratio before that doesn't stand up to much scrutiny. You may be right about the other team's interest but again it might just be media chatter or his agent/Blackburn trying to force the price up.
Agreed. I'm usually pretty positive about ourr chances but i can see us getting stuffed against WHam if he plays Ramirez and Aluko up top or Ince and Brady.
But primarily it's supply and demand. Everyone needs someone to score goals to win games. That's why centre forward costs are always inflated.
I would be tempted to play a front 3 Sagbo in the middle Ince on the right and Brady on the left, stick Ramirez (if fit) at the top of a diamond behind those 3, Sagbo has to play with his back to goal and holding the ball up, laying it back into Brady/Ince/Ramirez to have shots from the edge of the area. I can't see any other even remotely effective solution.
You can't say that without at least giving me some evidence of why you think he is a brillaint GK, maybe put your brilliant footballing knowledge into the reason you think he is a great GK, all the reasons I stated are the weaknesses in his game! The fact you don't like it, doesn't question my knowledge of the game! In fact if you actually watch some of the goals that have gone in against us, they will highlight the fact my points are far from ridiculous!
Sagbo should never play for Hull again after his recent statement! I think the reason he can't get to his bottom corner is due to his positioning in the goal another major weakness in his game, his slow reaction s could at also be at fault for this. He reminds me alot of Stockdale, can't reach his bottom corner and clumsy!
Apart from Steve Harper (who is a friend of Bruce), I can't remember Steve Bruce bringing in a decent GK! the 3 I can think of are Jakupovic, McGregor and Stockldale, who for me, have all been poor! I don't think its the area that needs a major change just yet, as we have quite alot of injuries but I hope next season, we have a new no.1
I could see that working as long as Meyler and Livermore, for their pure graft, were the other two midfielders, however, on current form, if either if those were replaced by Thudd I'm afraid we'd get swamped.
None of our goalkeepers are poor, McGregor hasn't had the season he had last year but he had been far from poor. I hope hes our number 1 for a while because he's very reliable. We will be getting a new keeper in summer, no doubt about it. But it won't be to replace Mcgregor.
