Sorry today we could possibly be rocking this Forster Clyne fonte gardos targett Cork jwp davis Elia Pelle Long Meh it isn't actually too bad if you think about it. The bench though....
@TheNigelAdkins: Safe trip to all Saints fans on the long journey up to Newcastle for today's game. Thank you for your supportive messages #togetherasone
To cheer yourselves up, go on the Newcastle site....they are convinced they will lose. Depressed Geordies. I suspect we would feel the same with no sign of a new manager on the horizon.
FLT, my tablet's predictive text manages to make no useful words from Pelle, and then adds some letters so that it can spell people instead. It's the comma that confuses it I think, so I should just stop using punctuation after midnight as I don't tend to be alert enough after midnight to spot the error
Bench isn't that bad.. just a shame that the under 21s played as we could of give a sub appearance too seager. But we still have Isgrove cork and Hesketh to use.
I agree but I cannot think of many sides who will have a good bench with up to 10 players out - including up 6 first team players (Morgan, Toby, Wanyama, Yoshida, Mane, Mayuka, Jay, Tadic, Bertrand and Gallagher), especially when a squad is only 25. It is unfortunate that injuries and those annoying continental competitions have coincided. I cannot understand why the Asian Cup is played now. It is in Australia! It must be ridiculous out there (surely not far off the ridiculous Qatar situation). African cup timing I can understand (and apart from squad depth we can't really call Mayuka a loss...)
Where's an International Break when you need one! Will be a real slog today. 'We're down to the bare bones' and have had a busy week of football and travelling. A draw would be a good result, but we can't really afford any more injuries.
Nice bit on Sky Saturday. Interview with Koeman as he received his Performance of the Week Award. Panel drooling over us and saying that Koeman has to be the best foreign manager for settling in so well and getting the team playing in his image. Thommo was asked if Liverpool had signed the right CB, but was pointed out that Fonte looked even better this season than last. I wonder if the style of Koeman suits him better than an all out attacking manager like Poch. Also praised Gardos for stepping in when Alderweireld was injured. Also Davis when he came on for Wanyama...players ready to step in when needed. Was suggested this was Newcastle's best chance with so many missing for our team, though predicted we'd at least get a draw. It was suggested that when midtable you can tolerate lost points better than when you are near the top. This is true...last year we dropped points and moved up and down a few places, but doing that when you want to finish in top 4 is more problematic.
Oh dear. Agree with the team posted above. Really struggling with options off the bench, if we can hold out for a draw then i'll be happy. We need QPR to shock manure.
We have to remain calm...it's the end of the season that counts. In his interview Koeman referred to our absent players and said that soon we would have everyone back for the rest of the season.
