So Little to Talk and Get Excited About

Can't lose, Altidore was beyond a joke. I'm not sure why you'd sign a WWE wrestler to play football? Personally think Defoe's level dropped off a touch a couple of years ago. I do think he is decent but is very selfish and quite easily intimidated. Not great as a team player and always been a bit injury prone. They were getting zero from Altidore though, so whatever Defoe can offer, they've improved. The fans are excited too, can't be a bad thing can it? Good business for me.

I think Fletcher is a good player personally, and Wickham too. I don't Sunderlands problem is solved by saying we need goals, sign Defoe. Pooyet has to change the system, he needs to quicken up their play and stop going sideways. Possession is good when you mix it with a bit of penetration, Pooyet is too much one way and being honest, they are the single most boring side I've seen in any form of football this season.

Defoe in his pomp was a very good player. Never really stood shoulder to shoulder with the likes of Shearer, Henry, Ruud VN etc...
Apparently he scored roughly as much as Dozy Altidore did in the MLS so the jury is out on the older version of Defoe.
A spurs fan I know said that to get the best out of him you need to set your team up around him and that is what Gus seems to be doing judging by reports of his training this week.
The only down side I can see is if he get's injured...... if that happens then plan A is out of the window.
Time will tell if he is worth all that money but if he keeps the Mackems up then it will be money well spent I'm sure.

 

We might be ****e on occasion, we may be good on occasion, we are rarely boring Seriously though, people having a pop at their fans for booing and moaning should remember it is meant to be entertaining. Maybe its a slow burn for Pooyet, but he is a bit one dimensional.
