Like many I dislike the aggression we receive from some elements of the Islamic faith, but I also recognise the difficulties that come from trying to integrate the societies. I am all for freedom of speech, but I think it should be exercised with wisdom and civility; I don't believe the most recent Charlie Hebdo cartoon was anything other that a spiteful and provocative retaliation, which was a poorly judged piece of journalism.
First of all I acknowledge the "no religion" rule however I object to the misheld opinion by some that Islamophobia is "racist". It's a rational fear of Islam, not Arabs, Turks, Malaysians, Syrians, Senegalese or any other ethnic group who might happen to be a Muslim. Some Muslims seem to be offended that we are afraid of their belief system. I think it's a perfectly intellectual and humanistic position to take given the evidence on view: 1. Violence in the name of religion (International) 2. Fatwas ordered by a head of state on an author (Iran) 3. The female and child circumcision community (Somalia) 4. The taking over by stealth of British university social faciilties and prayer rooms (UK) 5. The stated wish to see a global restoration of the Caliphate (ISIS) 6. Demand for segregation via Faith schools (UK) 7. The treatment of women as lesser citizens (worldwide) 8. The opposition to scientific thinking & research rendering nations unto poverty (Afghanistan) 9. The violation of democratic countries' diplomatic immunity (Denmark) 10.
