You could be right but then again he could have been trying to affect the fee.

One thing I do know. We should have kept Long. It doesn't matter how he has been playing for Southampton. We were getting the best out of him.

Saving a couple of pens, does not make a good goalkeeper, bar gaining us a few points maybe. Guzan is a brilliant goalkeeper, and I'd take Mignolet, Szczesny, Schmeichel and Green over McGregor any day of the week. Speroni and Pantilimon theres not much in it.

Agreed here, Hernandez in comparison is a complete disaster. What ever happened to Nahki Wells, I always liked the look of him?

Saving all penalties you've faced in the Premier League - 3 - is impressive. What about the penalties he's saved for Rangers and Scotland. Very few can match his record.
We were quite happy for Guzan to go back. What exactly is McGregors faults? I'm sure the fantastic saves he has made far outweigh the rare errors.

It wouldn't surprise me if there's a sudden turnaround with this one.
Bowyer will have said we want £4m and Brucie will have replied that he was expecting to pay half that, so we'll leave it there. He's now gone on record that the deal is dead to prove his stance.
If Blackburn are really struggling financially, as has been suggested, they might well decide that a fee somewhere between £2 & £3m for a player that they only paid about 10% of that for just a year ago is a deal that they can't afford to let slip away and might well come back to offer a compromise deal.

Maybe a shot in the dark but Bruce said at his press conference that we could not afford Blackburn's asking price, have Blackburn come down with there valuation.

Doesn't stay fit (so far), flat footed for such a small keeper and prone to mistakes. He also is a bit hot headed at times. Although I would agree that him and the centre halfs at the minute at the least of our worries.

It would also mean Allam going back on what he said about not spending any more until we got rid. I suspect that it`s more likely west brom or palarse

He didn't say we wouldn't spend any more until we got rid. He said he wouldn't put in any more money - which is very different.

He can be hot headed but I think saving shots is the most important part of being a goalkeeper. I've not noticed him being flat footed.

You might be right but wouldnt it be best to just pay the 4 mill and get it over with? Why risk him going somewhere else? I mean 4 mill for a guy with his striker rate last season and this one isnt exactly a ton of cash, plus with that striker rate it isnt like we would have to give him away for free if we had to sell him later. In his last 34 Championship games he has 20 goals and in the same period Rhodes has 30 in 60 which means that Gestede actually has the better strike rate over the last 2 seasons. Its going to take something like 12 mill to buy Rhodes but only 4 to buy Gestede and we want the cost to be 2 million or 1/6 the price for a guy that has a better strike ratio? We pay 10 mill for Hernandez but only want to pay 2 mill for Gestede who has proven he can score in England? How much money have we been given to spend this window if we are haggling like this?

Well according to AA, he wasn't providing anymore money, so you can only assume that because they clearly wouldn't want to take the financial hit that relegation would bring, they have told SB that they will allow him to bring a couple of players in because of the injury crisis but that they have to either be loans or very low outlay.

If it wasn't for us being one of the ****test most toothless teams in the world so far this season we could have said £2m up front with £3m on survival or other addons, but the way we've been playing, addons aren't worth the paper they're written on.

    I
McGregor is a terrible GK, I'd say he's championship at best! .....he's good at pens because he has plenty lf time to think, and he dives well!

he's a bad Gk in open play because his reactions are too slow, he cant control his area and he's hesitent and since he damaged his ribs, I have noticed he's not quick enough to get down to low shots
