He is eligible and it's inevitable he'll get at least one against us.

    Reckon we'll draw

    Some team news

Federico and Younes are both struggling against the effects of illness while Vlad, who scored against Burnley in our FA Cup replay win on Wednesday night, has a back problem.

“We’ll analyse the players and make a decision tomorrow,” said Mauricio.

Erik Lamela (calf) and Ryan Mason (hamstring) remain sidelined while Nabil Bentaleb is on African Cup of Nations duty with Algeria.

Hopefully this means Dier gets a long-overdue start at centre back.

According to Poyet, Defoe is "desperate to play tomorrow". I love Defoe and there's a part of me which would accept us winning 4-3 tomorrow and he got a hat trick.

I always liked him too, and would have welcomed him back. But realistically, Levy was never going to pay the reported £14mil over 3.5 yrs for a 32 yr old with no resale value.

Agreed. Also, he was reported to be "blowing out of his backside" during his one or two training sessions with our fringe squad.

As much as I like him, I hope he's still blowing out of it tomorrow, at least.

So why didn't he stay with whoever he was with? I haven't heard any glowing reports about his endeavours across the pond. Anyway he's with Sunderland so so be it. I think he's gone to totally the wrong club but that's his concern.

Lawro thinks we'll win it 2-0 and also states that we will get better. I posted a couple of days ago that we are not yet firing on all cylinders and so let's hope we start doing so tomorrow and get a solid win.

He didn't stay because he didn't like it. He was homesick, it happens. Also, Ryan Nelson, who signed him, was sacked a few months after he joined.

He has had a lot of personal crap go on in his life and he had a right to go away and try and make a fresh start. It didn't work out for him, but he is Spurs through and through and I hope this Sunderland move works out for him.

I didn't know any of that Spurcat but it doesn't change my mind that he's inconsistent and I think he should stop.

The team that scored first in the last four Spurs games has lost three times and drawn once. Spurs are scoring more, roaring back from deficits and doing better in general, but are switching off after getting leads.

I think I might bet Defoe will score if someone gave me even odds. Any game we won where Defoe scored would be just fine, as far as I’m concerned.

I'd like to see the trend of old players scoring against us change then I'd know that we are on track. It's all very well to win from behind but firstly we are not bossing the match and secondly, well that's ok against minnows but would we be so lucky against the top teams if we fell behind? I doubt it.

Not convinced by this team selection, I'm afraid. I think we'll be exposed down the flanks.

I agree. Very attacking, but whenever Eriksen plays wide, I don't enjoy what happens. Neither when Chadli plays on the right, I prefer him on the left. Hopefully Kane and Soldado can put this to bed early. If not, it won't be fun.
