"The Black Aeroplane" Returns Champion Chase Punchestown 2013 The Forums FAV Trainer ? (via BBC) "We need the race and have got to take it as it is, on unsuitable ground, which might just undo him." Jockey Barrry Geraghty (via ATR) "The ground looks like being no worse than soft which should be fine and although he’s never run over fences at Ascot, that shouldn’t be any concern – he’s won a bumper and hurdle there. As for his fitness on the ground, well, he’s been on the go for most of the time since his problem and, while I’m certain the race will sharpen him up, I’m sure he’s in a position to do himself justice. I couldn’t fault him when he schooled and then worked at Newbury recently when it seemed like the Sprinter Sacre of old was back with us. I’m extremely hopeful that will be the case at Ascot and he can retake his place at steeplechasing’s top table." Good Luck
Surely he runs he wins! I know not as simple as thy but nothing else is nr his league! Dodging bullets a champion 2miler surely not, I like the horse a lot and has bags load of talent but surely if Sprinter wasn't at least 90% fit he would nt be anywhere near the course in a race i have taken the 2/1 on him that was around on Wednesday so hoping that he does run but also hope nicky doesn't jut run him to get a race in him if the ground is like a mud bath!!
Sprinter Sacre will win unextended on the bridle. This time tomorrow evening he will be 4/7 for the Champion Chase. Anything close to EVS tomorrow is a license to print money. They wouldn't be going anywhere near the racecourse with him tomorrow if he wasn't straight.
Rule the World! Rule the World! Rule the World! Naas 1.50. Wasn't expecting 7/4, but we've got it and it's been gratefully received
Make the 4/1 I got for him for the CClook huge!! But he still has to turn up! Tho but after tomorrow that will be good!!
He'll need to run within 2 stone of his best to win. However it should be noted that his best was on Gd/Sft ground and his highest rating on anything softer is 16lb below his best. So, assuming at least one of the main opposition run to their best form, and the ground is soft, SS will need to run within 14lb of his soft ground form to win. That doesn't look quite so straight forward as being 30lb clear top rated. Hopefully he will come home safe and sound.
Except he's never been out of a hack canter on a racecourse Ron This is the horse who bettered Barnbrook Again's course record at Newbury on the snaff. He'll pop round and leave them for dead - should be an ideal prep for Cheltenham
I see ex John Oxx inmate Qewy is having his first run for John Ferguson tomorrow at Haydock. I took to this horse on the flat, I never won anything on him I just liked him and thought he would do a bit better than he did but such is life, I think our Boris got lucky on him when he won in a bog at Leopardstown last year If memory serves?! He was several lbs superior to all his rivals tomorrow on the flat and if he takes to his hurdles 11/2 could be a nice price post race. Ferguson appears to have a knack when he makes these purchases and I will be keeping a close eye on this lads run tomorrow on ground he should appreciate.
Hope so Oddy. Prior to his pulling up his TF ratings for the previous 3 races (most recent first) were 176+, 184+, 192+. On bare figures there is no evidence that he was improving. Following such a long lay off after his heart problem, I would not have thought soft ground against 2 rapidly improving younger horses, both of whom will appreciate the going (and given they probably won't hang around). was the ideal comeback race. But I like your confidence and I hope it is well founded; nothing would please me more, other than to know that he has taken the race well and strips fit for the CC in March.
What rating is 197 Wooly? Whatever it is it will be adjusted according to the weight he is carrying Edit Ah it's the RP rating. Presumably the rating is based on carrying 12 stone so at 11.7 it becomes 197
Thanks Ron so his official rating is 188 the same as his last two races why not go down? After his last race where he was pulled up
