Just reading a 3 book set I bought on line. Natural born skinhead set in 1971 Something to do set in 1972 Never a dull moment set in 1973 Great Stuff.
Many thanks for that, I've read a few books about it and also looked at some on-line stuff but havent seen this. A fascinating subject and some very brave men!
Im currently reading a series called The Gentleman Bastards, on the third book called Republic of thieves. It is, quite simply put, ****ing excellent. I'd recommend it to anyone who can stomach the odd gruesome torture scene. Imagine oceans 11 in middle aged Venice and you've got the first book in a nutshell.
I read that and the sequel words of radiance a couple of months back. I was very impressed with the first book but very disappointed by the end of the second. I'll try not to spoil it for you but I thought it just started getting way over the top, and really quite silly towards the end of the second book, I think you'll know what I mean if/when you get there.
Picked up The Count of Monte Christo from a second hand book stall. Complete and unabridged version. I'm enjoying it.
T Thats probably where having the memories of some of what's in the book will mean something and keep you interested. Even the non Hull City stuff is good as you know of the players they are on about like Colin Morris etc.
Just finished Roy Keane The Second Half. Hull City gets a few mentions as does Steve Bruce. I'd recommend it. Just started Viv Albertine, Clothes, Clothes, Clothes, Music, Music, Music, Boys, Boys, Boys. Completely different kettle of fish.
I bought this from the services on the way to one of our games earlier in the season. Still haven't started reading it.
Has anyone here ever written a book or made the attempt? Ive tried a whole bunch of times over the years but I normally give up after 30 pages or so. My latest attempt is up to 91 pages as of yesterday.
Just read Pirlos autobiography, was a bit disappointed because there wasn't much of it and the ghost writing/translation was terrible. Trying to finish one of Robert Jordans fantasy books before reading a Jo Nesbo I got for christmas
Don't be too quick to abandon the idea. There is a gap in the market for such topics. You could sweep up.
Just read Killers of the King: The men who dared to execute Charles I. Interesting read if you like history. At least I now know Robert Downing was a conniving git who sold out his friends in return for money and land, quite apt really.
Two I am going to buy as soon as I can, autobiographies - Renegade by Mark E Smith and whatever the Morrissey one is called, can't remember. Also, a book that has only just had its publication deal announced and will be out later this year, so is on my shopping list, 'The Unbreakable Miss Lovely' by Tony Ortega.
