The Italian, who spent last season on loan at the Stadium of Light, nearly completed a £14m move to the Black Cats. Although Borini has yet to find the net this term, he insists he is pleased he decided to stay with the Reds. "I've never regretted staying here," Borini told The Liverpool Echo. "Yes, I could have left, but I wanted to stay at Liverpool and I'm glad I did. To be honest, I didn't expect to play as much as I have done so far. "With Daniel Sturridge's injuries, I've played more than I expected. I think I've done okay. I probably should have scored from the few chances I've had, but I'm quite happy with my season so far. please log in to view this image GETTY Fabio Borini says he has no regrets about staying at Liverpool Yes, I could have left, but I wanted to stay at Liverpool and I'm glad I did Fabio Borini "I won't be leaving this month either. I started the last game and I don't see any reason why I would need to change clubs. I see it as all positive for me." Borini also cited his desire to play in the Champions League as a key reason to return to Anfield. "The reason I said no to the clubs who wanted to sign me was that I wanted to play for a top-four club. I wanted to play in the Champions League. "I don't think you can blame any player for having that kind of ambition. I took into account my football and also my personal life. "That’s why I decided to stay at Liverpool. I have no regrets. This is what I want. It was never about money. If that was my motivation then I would have left for Dubai. I still believe I can be a success at Liverpool." ------------------------------------------------- Not good enough for a top 4 club Fabio. Only good enough for a mid table side - a Sunderland or a Liverpool for instance. That's why Sunderland and QPR were the only clubs who really pursued you! This bloke thinks a lot of himself and I for one am glad he isn't playing for us.! Also how do you reckon the champions league thing is working out for him?
Brave of him to say he's happy with his season scoring no goals, the Scousers are crucifying Balotelli for scoring nisht.
I thought that. What fan would be happy to have a striker at their club who'll go on record saying he's happy with doing nowt?
Exactly, the kid is a goon in my opinion, rates himself way too highly, it's not arrogance either, it's just delusion.
Brenda couldn't speak highly enough of the lad when he signed him, the way he looks at him now it's like he's caught him in bed with his wife and his daughter!
I think it was fair enough in the summer to want to stay at Liverpool and fight for his place and have a little bit of sympathy with him on that regard. My reading was that he wanted to come out and say he was going to fight for his place and not go anywhere but that he was made to feel like he was surplus IF Liverpool signed the strikers they wanted. As such he kept his cards close to his chest until late on and then pulled the plug on ideas of moving to Sunderland. You can't blame him for Rodgers view of him nor GP's mild obsession with him being THE player to buy. His comments about "being happy" with how the season has gone are weird though. A striker at my team who isn't scoring any goals is not someone I want to be going on about how well they're doing. I know he does other things for the team and can't knock his effort from what I've seen but a really skilful striker who is putting in 100% rarely gets to January without a decent haul of goals to their name. Everyone knows he is a stop gap for Rodgers.
Not sure where you got that from fella. We pulled the plug twice not Borini, we withdrew the transfer bid and used the money to sign Jack Rodwell. We replaced our bid with a loan offer which we then withdrew to loan Coates. Borini must have been torn for the bid to have been in place for so long. It's likely we simply lost patients with his umming and ahhing. That's when QPR stepped in which broke down on his wage demands I do believe.
I'd rather have Bruma myself. Wouldn't cost as much and a much better attacking player to stick in an inside forward position.
