    He is available against the spuds.

    He has a record of scoring on his debut.

    I suppose the question is will he be a Michael Owen or a Darren Bent.

    One thing is that he is a better option than Jozy who although he was well liked didn't do anything for us.

    He can say goodbye to any thoughts of an England call up now that he plays for us, even if he scores a goal a game.

    Some very interesting things in that interview, notably he said he knows how high Poyet wants the team to play up the field.

    Also interesting, Poyets interview with SSN which was recorded yesterday, he said that Defoe had been here two or three days.

    It is encouraging if things are going on without leaks to the media <ok>

    A snippet

    There has been plenty of speculation over how much this deal has or hasn't cost Sunderland, but getting Altidore off the books and replacing him with a striker who actually scores goals can only be a good move. Whether Sunderland are capable of creating the kind of chances Defoe thrives on is another question, but at least he has the ability to put some away.

    Not so sure i'd want to start messing about with the defence at this stage of the season and in our predicament. Still unproven in the EPL but could be a good signing for the future.

    If Defoe has been here already a few days, are people surprised how little the media knew? For years the media haven't really had any info on our incomings. Any of our targets the media are aware of never seem to come off, often enough.
