Well Rodgers was quoted as saying you should challenge for the title If you spend 100+ million on players when referring to Spurs and yet he hasn't achieved that with Liverpool after spending more?

So Liverpool fans wipe that from their memories and have a pop at other teams players<doh>

With a side with the smallest budget in the division.

  4. How do you know they've wiped it from their memories...? Maybe they just know Brod is full of **** and never listen to what he says <ok>

Oh, and yet again you're changing the direction of the conversation and attacking Liverpool in the process :)

  5. And back to money it goes...

He'd been at Wigan for a few years and built his own squad, implementing his on style and tactics. Sure, they weren't the richest or biggest club in the league but they had been in the PL for quite a few years before he took them down.

The next 12 contain better teams then maybe he will go back to being **** again then<laugh>

It always comes back to money in the end.....

He had to sell the likes of Valencia, Moses and N'Zobia, and lost the likes of Diame, Scharner and Rodallega who walked away.

He was given buttons to replace them with and they ended up finishing where their budget suggested they should.

  10. The teams around them also panicked resulting in a change of manager every few months <laugh>

i like how some fans moan that the clubs who spend the most in wages and transfer fee's win the most, yet forget that a clubs with the smallest budgets tend to be relegated<ok>

All the while having his budget cut as whelan stopped pumping his own cash into the club.

  13. Tobes started banging on about Martinez's fantastic CV and knocking Brod's because of Reading sacking him. I'd say a second place in the PL is at the very least equal to a FA Cup win when it comes to a CV. Obviously there is a different view for fans as trophies are what count but if you're justify JM's credentials by pointing to how little money he had when Wigan were relegated then surely you can accept that Liverpool were massive underdogs for the league last year yet they were still in the fight come the final weekend. You keep talking about fair judgement, try doing what you preach <laugh>

PS...a lot of managers have been sacked from a job before going on to be brilliant. Brian Clough's a pretty god shout :)

are you talking about his sacking at Hartlepool or Leeds?

    #254
  15. Either, doesn't matter as the point was managers can be sacked before having a good career. That's not me saying it will happen with Brod either, its me saying the Reading sacking doesn't really matter. Much like the relegation for Martinez doesn't matter since he clearly did good work at Wigan.

Yet Brod has managed nothing of note since being sacked/contract terminated. Swansea managed to win a trophy in the season he left.....

He did qualify for the CL....winning once in a tough group <laugh>

    More revisionism from you there.......

Try the fact that I was merely offering a comparative to your current incumbent in response to a poster calling Martinez an 'average' manager.

Has Martinez ever actually improved a team? He only ever seems to achieve the bare minimum wherever he's been.

Personally, I think both Rodgers and Martinez are limited managers.

Until they appreciate the defensive side of the game, along with tactics, discipline and structure, they won't ever succeed at the top level.

He took an Everton team to its record points haul, into the EL and top of the group while doing a rodgers and investing in younger potential<ok>
