Thoroughly deserved. There's no doubt that he's the best signing the club has made for many years, and seems like a top bloke too.

Beth!!!!! Shut it, don't even think it. But then we all know you've already thought it, so it's your fault if it comes true!

MY LATEST BLOG: I'm Happy At QPR!

It was a big honour to be announced today as the Premier League Player of the Month for December. It’s a really proud day for me and my family and I want to thank everyone who voted, and also my teammates for helping me get the goals I’ve scored.

The game against West Bromwich Albion was the highlight of December for me. I scored my first Premier League hat-trick, it was a great moment for me, but most important it was a massive three points for the team at the time. I’m told that I’m the first QPR player to win this award since 1995 so it’s special for me and everyone at the club. It’s very pleasing to win awards like this but most importantly I want to keep doing well for the club and see us get as high up the table as possible.

Despite our League position it’s been an enjoyable season for me so far. I’ve scored the goals that have helped the team get to the points total we are currently at, and that’s really rewarding. The award wasn’t just about goals either – I think it’s a reflection of my overall performances, which is also pleasing. Things are going well but I’m aware of not getting too carried away, and that I need to keep working hard every day to stay at this level.

To be honest, I have taken myself by surprise a little bit by scoring as many goals in the Premier League as I have done. I never set targets, I just try to score in every game, whoever I’m playing for and at whatever level. To score 13 goals in the Premier League so far is great, and I hope that can continue for the rest of the season. To have Sergio Aguero and Diego Costa above me in the scoring race – two great players by the way, who are at the top two clubs in the country - is fantastic. To be involved at that level, and be so close to them in the scoring chart is great, and who knows where I can be at the end of the season.

People are asking me about England. I’m not thinking about it. I think it’s great for English football that so many English players are scoring goals in the Premier League, whether that is myself, my mate Danny Ings at Burnley, then there’s Harry Kane at Spurs and Saido Berahino too. They’ve all been involved for the England under-21 side and I haven’t, but if my performances keep getting talked about then who knows what might happen. I haven’t thought about playing for England. I can’t get carried away with things, I need to concentrate on my football at QPR and what will be, will be...

In terms of our League position, we are second from bottom but only 3 points off Everton who sit 12th! Nobody is cut off yet, which is important. If we had held on against Swansea we would have been 15th, but there’s a long way to go and probably eight teams are in the relegation battle right now. One or two wins on the spin can do you wonders so we have to try and get a little run together.

A lot has been made of our away form, but I think we need to focus on how good the home form has been. We’ve got a system of playing at home, and you can’t get away from it, the form has been great at Loftus Road! I think the atmosphere is playing a big part in that, and the tight pitch too. I think it’s proving intimidating for the away team to come to our place so lets keep it that way for the rest of the season!

Every team that comes up from the Championship always says they need to get the home form right and we’ve done that. We do all agree though that we have to improve our away form. We have to get the balance right between being good at home and picking up enough points on the road.

I know some things have been written and said about my contract situation. I’ve got 18 months left on my contract, I’m in no rush. I’m leaving that stuff to my agent and the people at the club, and I’m just thinking about my performances on the pitch. The most important thing for you to know is that I’m not thinking about looking elsewhere. I want you all to know I’m happy at QPR.

This weekend we’ve got Manchester United at home. We didn’t really do enough to get at them at Old Trafford and we want to change that this weekend. I am hoping to see not just a response from last week’s defeat, but also a response to what happened at their place when we lost 4-0. As I said we need to keep the home form going, keep the atmosphere there and the noise levels up. We’ve got some big players in this team and hopefully we can put in big performances at the weekend to get the result we want.

Lastly I want to say thanks to everyone who has been supporting us so far. I’ve had so many nice messages on here and when I meet QPR fans out and about too. It means a lot to me to hear so much support not just for me personally but the team as well. I’ll keep doing my best as will the rest of the boys, and I’m sure we will start climbing the table.

    Chaz

    Clearly a top bloke <ok>
