Good Morning Everyone, Were Leeds right to let Warnock go? Leeds are at the wrong end of the table, whilst Derby are challenging for top spot, so surely, if one of the best teams in the league want him, and bearing in mind Warnock has arguably been our best player this season, why have we let him go? Warnock has also revealed that Cellino was happy for him to leave in the summer, with then manager Dave Hockaday fighting to keep him. "This year Dave Hockaday stood my ground against the chairman and wanted me involved, the chairman was quite happy to let me move on. He stood my corner and gave me a chance and hopefully I've proved him right." Say what you like about Hockaday, but how many of our recent Managers have stood up against Cellino? With Redfearn's back firmly against the wall, he has been talking to the YEP (or should we call it damage limitation?) “In an ideal scenario we’d freshen things up,” Redfearn said. “ That goes without saying. There’s still time in the window. “But I’m head coach. I coach the players. My job is to prepare the team for Saturday. “I was asked to put a list of names together and I have done. That’s where it’s at. Ultimately we have an owner and a recruiter (sporting director Nicola Salerno). It’s not just a manager bringing players in. I’m head coach and I can only suggest players.” Thoughts? With Warnock applying his trade elsewhere, and Pearce not good enough, who is going to be cursed by wearing the Captains armband? Cooper, that's who! At Championship level, the 23 year old has played 15 games for the club, and apart from that, has applied his trade at the lower levels of the league. Don;t get me wrong, he's a great lad, but has much to learn, but should he really wear the Captain's armband?
If a player is good enough he is old enough. The problem is that IF the team is 3/4 full of can't be arsed eyties here for the short term then the captain could have the oratory and leadership skills of WSC and it would all be for nothing. As long as we have Cellino we are a serie B team playing in the English Championship. SerieB is inferior to the championship hence our current position. Cellino needs to leave, until then we are doomed for more of this misery. Simples
Good Morning All Well I stand by what I said the other day. Celino gave us a bullshit excuse to get rid of Warnock. I don't trust a word that comes out of the man's mouth. The sooner he's gone the better. As for the captain I think Cooper is the best we've got at the moment. Shame we don't have a Naylor type character in the squad so got experience and is a Leeds fan who wants to play for us.
Morning all On Warnock no, he has been one of our better players. Taylor only needs one shocker and his confidence will be shot, Taylor now knows he is #1 and the pressure will be immense, add to that the experience Warnock brings, the rest of the squad seeing the team captain sold and it was the wrong decision all things considered. If we had been midtable it would have been a different matter. Redfearn looks a beaten man, a couple of back to back wins might sort that out, it doesn't sound like he and Cellino are getting on, notice how Redfearn changed formation when Cellino was out of the country on holiday? A defeat to Birmingham and Cellino will blame formation and selection and I fear Redfearn will be in for a rough ride. Although I stick by what I say in that I do not believe he is the right man for the job he doesn't deserve to be undermined and what other choice do we have?
Redfearn is a beaten man, great comment and very true. Warnock had to go because he was a big earner and refused to do what he was asked to do by his employer. Good luck to him and I hope it works for him and Derby, as it will prove yet again what a good manager can do with no money as apposed to a green/trainee manager/coach in a tough league. Redders was great with the kids, the new guys shyte with the kids as recent results prove, so move him back and bring in a new proper manager and support him. Redders: " well I gave them my list but I just coach". Bollox your list included Becchio ffs so if all you want is a fall-down lump then I'm glad you're not involved. Salerno must know better players who he can get and who he knows can do a job for us. Vinny Cooper will be great unless he has a couple of nightmare games (Which a centre half gets especially at Leeds) Bad call as captain because of the position he plays and the way he is constantly defending because of the way we set up. Great captain material as long as we protect the defence better. Redders needs a performance and 3-points this weekend or history.
Lots of people Redfearn will be gone and I think the same . However I am curious to know if you guys think he should be carrying the can or do you think Cellino would be scapegoating him to shift the blame. Obviously you know my view that Redfearn isn't a head coach, but I blame Cellino, am I a lone voice again?
Hindsight is a beautiful thing but after Hockaday we had Redfearn step in as the temporary guy and he managed to get what I believe were slightly fortunate results. Cellino must have felt the same or why bring in Darko? Whoever came in after that had to match those four games for results or be under constant pressure, fans remembered that 4 match stint of Redfearn and his previous stints in charge prior to that were long forgotten, Darko was in a no win situation. I said (and I remember a few others saying the same at the time) we should leave Redfearn in charge until/if it goes tits up. If he had suddenly put together a poor string of results he could have quietly stepped aside and we bring in someone else, if he continues to pull off the wins then we enjoy the ride. Ultimately Cellino has to be blamed, we are either under performing because of the coach or we are not good enough because of the quality brought in, either way Cellino picked the players and the coaches. Redfearn favours the players he has helped develop, he favours Morison over the new signings, some say it is wrong and he is blinkered but what if the players brought in by Cellino really are not as good as Mowatt and Cook? One way or another the coaches keep getting placed into no win situations. In Cellinos favour, IF and I say IF Warnock was on in excess of £25k, Hunt was on £20k and Murphy given £22k then you have to believe you can do better for less, that is a lot of wages for not a lot of return. Is the answer to get in a proven coach/manager and say to them here you go, have a free reign, work with Salerno but I am warning you over £12k and it ain't happening.
Good Morning to Matt and co from a sleeting Cote de Bardsey I think that Cooper who was captain at his last club will relish being captain of Leeds ands I for one back that decision Taylor will step up to the plate and will get plenty of support from the terraces .He too played all of last season albeit for a smaller club butwas voted player of the year. Redfearn is not good enough to be coach Im afraid to say .He gets lost on knowing when to use subs and what has his no2 brought to the table at the moment zero Warnock I wish him well but we need to save money so he had to be sacrificed What has disappointed me is the lack of new faces I hope this will be recified sooner rather than later Stevie Wonder suggested Chris Woods for the striker role I see that this was picked up yesterday Love Knockeart as well along with a destroyer .I have always liked Keith Andrews but is he to old now Oh dear I forgot I shouldnt think about who I would like to help us out as I must have read about them somewhere!
I believe we were right to let him go. He is 33yrs old, not as fast as he used to be and it showed after he went down line to cross the ball, he was slow getting back, he's also injury prone now. If he was on 40K a week (thanks to his not related Uncle Warnock) then that = 2.080 mil a year; probably one of the reasons, if not the reason Cellino wanted him gone. Players were getting around and behind him, we've conceded a lot of goals down his side, when Pearce was playing too. He apparently had form in causing trouble at his previous clubs, and was mentioned by some as being the instigator, along with Morison in trying to split the dressing room. Should be interesting if Redders starts Morison v Brum. Taylor has his chance, he may make the odd mistake but I think he'll more than fill Warnocks boots and make the position his own, after all, after one game Redders claimed Taylor was our best crosser of the ball. Based on Coopers performance as Capt against Sunderland, he looks a natural; as some say, still a lot to learn but I think he can do the job from back while still marshalling the defence. I disagree Chippy, I don't believe we have can't be arsed eyeties, they play a better game than most from last seasons team, and they're not journeymen. If Redders is going to be sacked with Cellino resting, then little Eleanora can do it.........she can sack me anytime...
Morning all I think we'd have been right to let him go at the end of the season, but not now. Unless he's been causing issues off the field. He may have lost a yard of pace, but his experience could well prove vital. As has already been said in this thread, in a relegation scrap it's only going to take 1 mistake to really hit Taylors confidence. I would have rather he continued to develop without this pressure on him. As for Redfearns authority on transfers (or lack there of) I said all I have to in my thread about Directors of Football the other day
Warnock was MOM against Bolton early season, with his goal etc,was a miss-hit cross that got him that award. If we are keeping Wooton can cover RB which could also leave Baradi able to switch to LB would rather have that than a bitter Warnock after we refused him the transfer he wanted.
I would have rather kept both until the end of the season but straight choice one or the other I would have had to say Wootton as well, I think Warnock is the better player but with his younger age, extra year on his contract and I do think he would be great IF we drop to L1 and he would possibly improve as a player Wootton is the sensible option. I don't see why we had to lose one but at least we haven't allowed both to walk out the door.
She's now 2-years old and that photo was taken when she was 4-months. Fantastic personality and great looking Border Colly who will do anything to please. Can be hard work exercise wise though
Feel sorry for Derby in a way if Warnock refuses to move house,3 hours each way traveling time. Will be knackered before he starts training or playing.
If it has a pulse he is there. Family motto: If it moves feck it If it doesn't move feck it till it does
