Sounds like classic IKEA diagrams. I wanted a couple of doors for a cabinet that I was making. With the add of the internet I found exactly what was required, but they were at IKEA, and I had the choice of their depots at Bordeaux or Tours. As Tours is nearer, about a two hour drive, I went there and ordered what I required. When I got them home I found that they were similar, but not what I wanted. Take them back or use them for something else. In the end I did keep them and make something in addition, but it meant another trip to Tours. So all in all I spent eight hours driving to obtain two cabinet doors that cost about €30.

Hi BB. I've had one die before. I think now it was a fake. Apparently ebay amazon are rife with them. It was 64Gb for £15 a good while ago. I bought two. Both dead now. Bought from Amazon, they lasted a couple of months then both died. Saw them on Watchdog!
Anyway, assuming they are not counterfeit, there does seem to be a lot of flash drive data recovery programs available online, but perhaps worth doing homework on them. I didn't have anything not backed up on mine and so I wrote them off, not having time to process refund etc etc, just as they planned I'm sure!

    Hope it works out. <ok>

I do work mainly off my pen drive at work & unfortunately got out of the habit of backing it up onto my laptop about three years ago - after losing everything when my laptop died. I replaced the laptop and bought an external hard drive at the same time, just in case the new laptop died. Unfortunately, the external hard drive gave up the ghost & I lost it all again anyway. I guess I should get two pen drives & keep backing one up to the other...

Didn't know that could be done, so will certainly investigate that - thanks for the tip. <ok>

This one was supplied by the school - we're not allowed to use anything that can't be encrypted, so any document with children's names on it has to be locked in a vault. I don't know how the authority manage to do it, but 'normal' pen drives won't work in school systems , only the ones they supply us with. I'm quite happy to let them supply us with them as they are around £30 each....

Morning all. Just about recovered from a severe bout of man flu which started on 30 December! Mrs S had woman flu as well. Life should get back to normal next week which unfortunately means leaving the sofa and going to the gym.

Had a nice 4 in of snow this week which sadly did not last. Very stormy too, exciting.

Glad you're both recovered Scully although I cannot fit "nice" and "snow" into the same sentence on my computer
