http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/latest-news/178207-ibe-recalled-from-derby-loan-spell Bad idea IMO. He was developing very well there, getting lots of game time. Unless Brendan plans to be playing him a lot I think this was a silly move, especially considering we have a lot of wingers already. Sterling/Markovic/Couthino/Moreno/Suso etc. Hope he plays!
this is an extremely clear signal for me. 1. we are signing no-one this window 2. rodgers wants kids to play europa and suggests he's no real interest in it.
Sounds about right. I would have thought the EL was worth a go though. Would have left Ibe at Derby personally. Or, Ibe's about to be sold.
rodgers has flagged this and said if he recalled him it was to play..... rodgers own words.... he also said very low chance of signings. so you guys figure out wher he is going to play... borini, lambert and badontelli are really going to have to fight for one slot on the bench so i expect borini to be with the u21s, lambert to play cup v bolton and then be unseen and badontelly to stink up the bench. really mr lallana is going to compete with the lad and i expect in the main to see ibe in europa!
He should go on loan to Burnley or leicester. He isn't gonna gain anything sitting on the bench behind Sterling and Markovic
i dont see the point in spending money. The team is just starting to gel. Our n1 striker will be back soon. What is the point in spending money when there isnt any value anywhere. The one bargain going was Shaqiri, and we are loaded in his position. Looking forward to seeing Ibe play. If he spends the rest of the season not getting games ill be pissed. At the same time he has to prove his worth and work his way in.
I remember the Markovic bashers saying they don't understand why we spent so much yet we had Ibe. Now Ibe is back some are not happy. If Ibe is any good he will break through and play games. Sterling didin't need to go out on loan because he was ready then. We need numbers and not just numbers but players who can run and press and Ibe ticks these boxes. Top 4,Europa ,FA Cup and CoC are all there for the taking so this recall makes sense @Jimmy Squarefoot I don't think it is a case of penny pinching but a case of we have players available on loan so why buy more. If the right player is available we will buy.
Because we're expecting two 19 year olds to help salvage the season, which is criminal considering we spent over £100m in the summer. In Origi's case, I can see sense in recalling him purely because Lille are a poor team and they're not getting the best out of him. Combined with the fact that the fans are turning on him, it's a toxic environment for him. I like to have Ibe back but I feel for his development, it's best to stay at Derby. But the issue I have is that we're recalling these two attackers - we need a GK, CB and midfielder.
I wasn't one of them but maybe they meant spending £20m on someone that appeared to be no better than a youth player we had out on loan was a bit silly. Obviously, it was also short sighted since Marko hadn't been given a chance. It never meant they wanted Ibe in the squad either, it was purely about mis-spending money which we've become all too familiar with unfortunately.
I've seen a couple of games this lad has played this season, in one he was anonymous, but in the other he looked a right handful. Maybe the idea is to send him to a PL club for the rest of the campaign to really test him?
